자유선진당 이회창 총재가 28일 김대중 전 대통령에 대해 “전직 대통령으로서 금도를 벗어난 발언을 했다”며 강력히 비판했다.
전날 김 전 대통령이 민주노동당 강기갑 대표의 예방을 받은 자리에서 “민주당과 민주노동당, 시민단체 등이 민주연합을 결성, 이명박 정부의 역주행을 저지하는 투쟁을 한다면 성공할 것”이라고 발언한 것을 지적한 것.
이 총재는 이날 국회에서 열린 당5역 회의에서 이같이 밝히며 “어떻게 전직 대통령이 야당과 시민단체에 대해 반정부 투쟁을 선동하는 발언을 할 수 있느냐. 현 정권이 잘하고 못하고를 떠나서 이런 언동은 해서는 안 되는 행동이다. 전직 대통령은 전직 대통령답게 점잖게 처신해 주길 바란다”고 따끔히 충고했다.
그는 또 김 전 대통령이 이명박 정부의 ‘비핵·개방3000정책’이 미국 부시 대통령의 실패한 정책을 그대로 답습한 것이라고 비판한데 대해 “비핵, 개방 자체도 부정하는 것이냐”며 “만일 그런 취지라면 대한민국의 전직 대통령으로서는 있을 수 없는 발언이다. 지극히 개탄스럽다”고 목소리를 높였다.
이 총재는 정치권 일각에서 제기되고 있는 대북특사론에 대해서도 “참 우려스러운 말”이라며 “북한은 지금 한국의 유엔 대북인권결의 참여, 대북 전단 살포행위 등을 트집 잡아 남북관계를 중단하는 강수로 나오고 있는데, 여기에다가 대북특사를 보내는 것은 결국 진사(陳謝)사절밖에 되지 않는다”고 지적했다.
이어 “북한에 가서 대북인권결의 참여나 대북 전단살포가 잘못됐다고 됐다고 사과하고 다시 남북 길을 열어 달라고 부탁하는 꼴밖에 더 되겠느냐”면서 “북한의 대남 압박의 저의는 대미관계에 대한 협상 수단으로 보이는 만큼 대북특사 파견은 전혀 도움이 되지 않는다. 오히려 대북특사라는 자체가 현재 경색된 남북관계를 건전하게 풀어가는 것을 저해할 수 있다”고 반대 입장을 분명히 했다.

전날 김 전 대통령이 민주노동당 강기갑 대표의 예방을 받은 자리에서 “민주당과 민주노동당, 시민단체 등이 민주연합을 결성, 이명박 정부의 역주행을 저지하는 투쟁을 한다면 성공할 것”이라고 발언한 것을 지적한 것.
이 총재는 이날 국회에서 열린 당5역 회의에서 이같이 밝히며 “어떻게 전직 대통령이 야당과 시민단체에 대해 반정부 투쟁을 선동하는 발언을 할 수 있느냐. 현 정권이 잘하고 못하고를 떠나서 이런 언동은 해서는 안 되는 행동이다. 전직 대통령은 전직 대통령답게 점잖게 처신해 주길 바란다”고 따끔히 충고했다.
그는 또 김 전 대통령이 이명박 정부의 ‘비핵·개방3000정책’이 미국 부시 대통령의 실패한 정책을 그대로 답습한 것이라고 비판한데 대해 “비핵, 개방 자체도 부정하는 것이냐”며 “만일 그런 취지라면 대한민국의 전직 대통령으로서는 있을 수 없는 발언이다. 지극히 개탄스럽다”고 목소리를 높였다.
이 총재는 정치권 일각에서 제기되고 있는 대북특사론에 대해서도 “참 우려스러운 말”이라며 “북한은 지금 한국의 유엔 대북인권결의 참여, 대북 전단 살포행위 등을 트집 잡아 남북관계를 중단하는 강수로 나오고 있는데, 여기에다가 대북특사를 보내는 것은 결국 진사(陳謝)사절밖에 되지 않는다”고 지적했다.
