즉 정직하고 마음이 고결하고 신앙심이 진실되면 크게는 4단계의 위치별로 도움을 받는것이고 밤하늘에 칠성줄의 신령이나 종교 신앙의 영성의 저마다 빛이나 원력 역시 이러한 큰 구도속에서 진행되어온것이다.





다르마에 생사 윤회속에서 생기는 인간의 의식과 마음과 그로인한 빛이 물질의 카르텔에 매이게되면 그들의 양자 컴퓨터 통제속에서 그렇게 윤회를 하는것이고 그것을 넘어선 자신의 영빛을 내공을 쌓으면 그들을 양자 컴퓨터를 뛰어넘을수가 있는것이다.



그래서 인간의 영육이 무한한 잠재력이 있음에 얼마나 수행 개발해가느냐에 달려있고 불행과 고통이 숙명적으로 누구에 의해서 불행과 고통이 생기는것이 아니라 다 자신의 내면의 이러한 깨우침을 실상의 이치를 알고 절대적인 신에게 절대적인 믿음과 실천을 통한 성령의 영성의 빛을 만들어내는 자신의 하기 나름인것이다. 그래서 부처님의 불법의 말씀과 성경의 말씀이 융합되어서 수행을 해야만 하는것이다 그리고 절대적인 신에게 절대적인 의지를 참회를 믿음을 산자와 죽은자들이 함께 의지하면 큰 수확의 열매를 영성의 빛의 열매를 맺어지는것이다.지금 세계 종교 신앙인들은 조교 융합에 노력하지못하면 그들의 산자와 죽은자들은 새로운 시대와 새로운 문명의 주역이 될수가 없음을 분명히 말하고 기록하는것이다 인류문명의 새로운 시대, 새로운 문명은 새로운 생명줄은 절대적인 신의 절대적인 하나님의 절대적인 의지와 믿음과 참회 그리고 마음의 수행 공부를 하게되면 그리고 융합의 대득도의 수행을 해가는 삶을 살아가는 존재들이 새로운 생명을 받고 축복과 보상을 받게될것이다.

로 그들이 어느날 갑자기 생명체가 죽음을 맞이하게되고 영빛도 사라지게 되는것이다





그리고 미래의 전쟁은 화학전도 핵전쟁도 무수한 전쟁의 새로운 도구 수단들이 나오겠지만 육신의 죽고 사는문제보다도 더 심각하게 인지해야하는것은 자신의 영의 빛이 어느 생명줄에 동아줄에 메달리느냐에 달려있는것이다.재림하신 예수님은 약속을 하였기에 이 역시 행성 계획 차원에서도 그리고 각 우주인들간이나 지구인들간의 이해관계를 보드라도 심판의 형국은 피할수가 없다라는 사실이다 이 지구 행성이 그러한 처지에 있기에 엄중하게 심판을 처리해갈것으로 본다



깨우침에는 이러한 과학이라는 실상의 이치도 알고 영적인 수행도 병행해서 해야만 자신스스로가 체험하고 깨우치면서 자신만의 영성을 만들어갈수가 있는것이다 그 이외의 모든 도구들은 종교 집단이나 목사나 스님이나 신부들이나 자신의 주변의 모든 인간 관계는 실상의 이치를 그리고 깨우침을 도와주는 한 부분이기에 그러한것을 내것으로 만들어내기위해서는 항상 깨어있고 진행형이되어야하는것이다. 막연한 신앙 생활은 해도 그만 안해도 그만이다 자신의 영빛이 그렇게만 되어지는것이다 즉 영성의 마에점을 넘어서는 신앙의 고비를 넘어가야하는데 지구인들의 영성은 아직도 미숙하다



로마 교황청에서 신앙의 해로 지정하였으면 얼마나 영이 새로워질것인지 기대를 해본다 영의 세계에서도 진실은 우주든 지구든 결과로 말해주는것이다,말이 필요가 없기에 말이다.



물질의 카르텔 신령들도 성령도 절대적인 신께서도 다 저마다 뜻을 이루시고자 인간의 도구들을 물질의 방편들을 다양한 채널로 사용하고 있다라는 사실이다



영적인 싸움도 결과적으로는 영의 빛의 힘의 크기 싸움인것이다 이것이 정해지면 그 다음 생명체의 명을 처리해가는것이기에 말이다



지구촌이 하루빨리 융합하는 조직들이 새로운 생명줄을 잡기를 바랍니다 그러하지못한 집단들은 다 심판내지 구사 일생의 구제의 기회를 받거나 지구촌의 25%는 절대 사망의 심판은 피할수가 없습니다 융합에 동참하는 분포율은 역시나 25% 로 보고 나머지 50%는 상황에 따라서 처신들을 하는 집단으로 봅니다



한반도의 운명 역시나 그러하고요 고통 역시 불가피합니다 인간 대청소들을 해야하므로 남북한이 그래야 그나마 기회를 받아서 축복을 받는것이고 이것은 이미 오바마 대통령이 방한시에 언급을 해주었고 실제적으로 처한 한반도의 운명은 그러합니다 세계 새로운 대조류의 새로운 생명줄을 잡지못하는 한반도가 대한민국이나 북한이 된다면 그것으로 구한말보다도 더 잔혹한 댓가를 받게된다라는 사실입니다 과학 기술 추이도 다 융합형 과학 기술이 선점을 하듯이 믿음이 있는자들에게 그러한 우주의 기술을 전수하는것이고 그것이 정책으로 산업으로 전향되어지는것이고 절대적인 신의 뜻에 눈밖에 나면 이제는 구제할 도리가 없다라는 사실이다



바벨론의 멸망을 4대문명의 멸망을 교훈을 잊지말아라 인간은 미약하다 산자든 죽은자든 미약한 존재이고 정답이 없다라는 사실이다 소생은 늘 죽은자 신령분들에게 절대적인 신의 존재를 알고 그분에게 모든것을 맡기고 귀를 기울이고 나서 행을 하라고 말씀들을 드리고 있는것이다



인간사 일어나는 이해관계들 그러한 속성을 잘 알기에 엄중하게 심판 집행을 하지못할 이유도 이제는 없는것이다





새로운 생명줄을 잡은 산자와 죽은자들이 미래 인류 사회의 주도권을 축복을 보상을 특권을 누리게 됨을 기억하라!



소생이 큰 기도를 마치고 용산숲에서 나와서 일상 사회 생활을 하면서도 모든 산자와 죽은자들간의 이해 관계들을 처리해가고 있는것이다.





죄짓고 늬우치지않은 조상의 영들은 다 사라질것이고 조상의 영들이 사라지면 육신이 있어도 지켜줄 영이 부족하면 경쟁력이 없어지는것이다 거기에다가 절대적인 신을 의지하지않고 불법과 성경의 말씀을 공부하지않는 존재들은 미래생에 다 인과응보의 댓가를 받게되어서 지금보다도 전생보다도 더 잔혹한 고통을 불행을 받게될것이다.



하루 속히 융합하는 그룹들이 생겨나고 인류 문명의 마지막 절정의 꽃을 추수 시대를 맞이하기를 바랍니다 지구가 종말하는 그날까지 상위의 그룹들이 주도권을 잡게될것이니 그렇게들 아시기를 바랍니다 가진자 못가진자 대립한들 그것은 자신의 늬우침이 없는 영성의 실상의 이치도 모르는 무지한 사탄들의 이간질 대립하는 분열시키는 존재들이기에 대청소의 대상들이다. 심판의 대상들이다





한반도가 지금 돌아가는 시간표가 얼마나 늦추어졌는지 자신들의 생사 심판에 다 되돌아가는것이고 엄숙하고 엄정하게 처리할것이다.



한반도를 올바르게 세우지못하면 주변 4강은 그 이상의 댓가를 그동안 물질의 카르텔 세력들이 타격을 받게될것이다 그리고 중국도 엄청난 불이익을 받게되니 알아서 한반도가 새로운 생명줄로 가는것이 궁극적으로 중국에게나 미국이나 지구촌이 더 나은 복을 받게된다라는 사실을 명심하라 그래서 한반도 남북한 대대적인 물갈이가 불가피하다 물론 반발하겠지만 그들을 대청소는 희생 제물로 삼아야함은 불가피하다 세계 미래 전략가들이 구상한들 소생이 지적한대로 오류가 없을것으로 본다



새로운 생멸줄을 잡는 25% 지구촌의 집단들도 그나마 절대적인 신에게 구제받고자 지난날의 죄악을 반성하고 참회하고 자발심의 깨우침으로 되어진것이니 강요가 아니다라는 사실을 명심하시기를 바랍니다 그만큼 영성의 각성들이 있기에 자발심이 깨우침이 일어나는것이고 믿음과 신앙의 수행에 정법으로 가고자 노력하기에 나타나는것이다.

속도 상상 초월 … 양자컴퓨터 핵심기술 첫 개발

‘꿈의 컴퓨터’라는 양자컴퓨터를 만들 수 있는 핵심 원천기술이 해외 한국인 과학자들에 의해 세계 처음 개발됐다. 이에 따라 상상하기 힘들 정도로 빨리 계산해낸다는 양자컴퓨터의 연구에 획기적인 돌파구가 열렸다.



미국 실리콘밸리 IBM 알마덴연구소의 양시훈(42·사진 왼쪽) 박사와 싱가포르 국립싱가포르대학 전자공학과 양현수(35·오른쪽) 박사팀은 양자컴퓨터의 핵심 기본단위인 큐빗(Qubit)에 쓰이는 ‘전자 스핀(Spin)’의 수명을 기존 기술보다 100만 배로 늘리는 데 성공했다고 6일 밝혔다. 연구 논문은 영국의 세계적 과학학술지 ‘네이처 머티리얼스(Nature Materials)’ 7일자 온라인 판에 실렸다.



큐빗은 전자의 전하와 함께 그 전자 하나하나가 지닌 자석 같은 성질인 ‘스핀’이 서로 얽히거나 중첩된 양자 상태를 통칭한다. 반도체는 반도체 내 각 정보 저장 공간에 전류가 흐르면 디지털 정보 ‘1’, 흐르지 않으면 ‘0’으로서 두 가지 정보만 기록한다.



이에 비해 큐빗은 스핀으로 인한 다양한 양자 상태가 가능하기 때문에 처리하는 정보의 수가 천문학적으로 늘어난다. 이에 따라 큐빗을 활용해 컴퓨터 중앙처리장치(CPU)를 만들면 처리 속도가 기하급수적으로 빨라지고, 기억소자를 만들면 그 용량이 폭발적으로 증가한다.













양자컴퓨터는 큐빗을 다루는 기술이 그 핵심이다. 그중에서도 한번 고정해 놓은 스핀의 N·S극(북·남극) 방향이 얼마나 오랫동안 유지되게 하느냐 하는 것, 즉 ‘스핀의 수명’을 늘리는 것이 관건이었다. 스핀의 수명이 짧으면 저장된 정보가 재빨리 사라져버리기 때문이다.



종전 기술로는 그 수명이 20억분의 1초에 불과했다. 연구진은 이를 약 100만 배 이상으로 늘리는 데 성공했다. 시간적으로 아주 짧지만 정보를 한 번 읽어내는 데 걸리는 시간이 10억분의 몇 초밖에 되지 않는다는 점을 감안하면 매우 긴 시간이다. 기존 반도체에서 정보를 읽거나 저장할 때 10억분의 1~1억분의 1초가 걸린다.



이렇게 수명을 늘리는 방법으로, 알루미늄 박막을 섭씨 영하 272도의 액체 헬륨으로 얼려 초전도체로 만들었다(그림 참조). 그런 다음 초전도체가 된 알루미늄 박막 주위를 산화마그네슘으로 감쌌다. 초전도체는 자석에 약한데, 스핀을 주입할 때 사용하는 자석의 자력을 막기 위해서다. 이어 초전도체 알루미늄 박막에 스핀을 집어넣자 스핀조차 얼어붙다시피 해 외부의 자극에 둔감해지고, 스핀의 N과 S극의 방향도 오랫동안 유지했다.



양자컴퓨터의 실용화는 극복해야 할 난제가 많아 앞으로도 긴 시일이 걸릴 전망이다.

☞◆양자컴퓨터(Quantum Com­puter)=양자(量子)는 더 이상 나눌 수 없는 에너지의 최소 단위다. 양자컴퓨터는 양자역학에 기반한 연산법을 사용한다. 1982년 미국의 이론물리학자인 리처드 파인먼에 의해 처음 고안됐다. 기존의 컴퓨터가 한 번에 한 단계씩 계산할 수 있지만 양자컴퓨터는 한 번의 조작으로 여러 계산을 동시에 진행할 수 있다.



◆전자의 스핀=전자(電子)는 전기적 성질을 띠지만 시계 방향 또는 반시계 방향으로 회전(스핀·Spin)하기도 한다. 이때는 자석의 성질도 나타난다. 그 자석의 N극 또는 S극의 방향을 인위적으로 조절하며 정보를 저장한다.







◆큐빗(Qubit)=기존 컴퓨터가 0과 1의 비트(bit)를 기본으로 움직이는 데 비해 양자컴퓨터는 0과 1의 중첩된 상태인 큐빗을 단위로 한다. 큐빗 수가 늘어날수록 양자컴퓨터의 능력은 ‘지수적’으로 급증한다







21세기를 향한 미래의 컴퓨터들

지금부터 소개할 컴퓨터들은 혀재 세계 여러 나라에서 연구와 개발을 계속하고 있는 미래의 컴퓨터 기술과 컴퓨터들이다. 그 중 어떤 컴퓨터는 불과 몇년 전에서부터야 연구가 시작된 것도 있고 어떤 분야는 1940년대 무렵 한 차례 연구가 진행되었다가 상당 기간 동안 다른 흐름에 밀려 뒷전으로 물러났다가 최근 다시 각광을 받기도 하고 있다.

따라서 이 컴퓨터들은 아직 완성되지 못한 미래의 컴퓨터들이다. 또한 앞으로도 과연 가능할지 여부에 대해 아직도 논쟁이 그치지 않고 있다. 하지만 많은 사람들은 다가오는 21세기를 지배할 컴퓨터들이 이 속에서 등장할 것이라고 믿고 있다. 물론 컴퓨터 기술은 하루가 다르게 발전하고 하드웨어와 소프트웨어 기술도 하루가 다르게 진보하기 때문에 어떤 종류의 기술이 가장 큰 흐름이 될지에 대해서도 아무도 예측하기 어렵다. 그러나 현재 컴퓨터 선진국들 사이에서 계속되고 있는 미래 컴퓨터 기술은 무척 흥미로울 뿐 아니라 유익하다.

광컴퓨터, 뉴로 컴퓨터, 바이오 컴퓨터 등은 아직 극히 부분적으로 밖에는 실용되지 못하고 있지만 일단 성공한다면 인류의 미래를 뒤바꾸어 놓을 만큼 중요한 분야들이다. 그 이유는 이 컴퓨터들이 대부분 인간의 두뇌를 모델로 '지능을 가진 컴퓨터'를 목표로 삼기 때문이다. 그 동안 생각하는 기계, 지능 컴퓨터에 대한 이야기는 많이 나왔지만 본격적인 연구가 시작된 것은 뉴로 컴퓨터와 바이오 컴퓨터에 대한 연구가 본격화된 최근이다. 앞에서 소개한 인공 지능처럼 사람의 지능 중 일부를 흉내내는 것이 아니라 정말 사람과 마찬가지로 생각하고 판단할 수 있는 컴퓨터가 만들어진다면 우리 생활이 얼마나 크게 바뀔지 아무도 예측할 수 없을 것이다. 또한 여러 컴퓨터 기술은 서로의 장점을 본따면서 함께 이용될 가능성이 높다. 현재 추진되고 있는 광-뉴로 컴퓨터가 대표적인 경우라 할 수 있다.

한편 최근 들어 그 동안 사용되어 온 컴퓨터 기술이 소프트웨어와 하드웨어 양측면에서 모두 한계를 드러내기 시작했기 때문에 새로운 컴퓨터 기술이 절실하게 요구되고 있다.

어떤 학자들은 미래 사회를 지배할 강대국은 이러한 첨단 컴퓨터를 먼저 개발하는 국가가 될 것이라고 말하기도 한다. 그러면 흥미롭고 신비스럽기까지 한 미래의 컴퓨터들에 대해 알아보기로 하자.



광컴퓨터란 무엇일까?

가까운 친구, 빛

컴퓨터에 대해 관심이 많은 사람이라면 예외겠지만 아직까지도 '광(光)컴퓨터'는 우리에게 퍽 낯선 말이다. "광컴퓨터라니? 빛을 이용하는 컴퓨터라는 말인 것 같은데 ··· 도대체 빛을 어떻게 이용하라는 거지?" 대부분의 사람들은 이런 의문을 품을 것이다.

광컴퓨터에 대해서는 잘 몰라도 광통신이나 광섬유라는 말을 들어보지 못한 사람은 별로 없을 것이다. 그 밖에 레이저에 대한 이야기도 텔레비전이나 책을 통해 여러 번 들었을 것이다. 레이저나 광통신처럼 빛을 이용하는 '광(光)기술'은 이미 시험 단계를 넘어 실용화되어 우리 주변에서 어렵지 않게 찾아볼 수 있다. 가령 백화점이나 슈퍼마켓에서 흔히 볼 수 있는 '바코드'나 '시디(CD)'라는 이름으로 널리 알려진 콤팩트 디스크 등은 모두 빛을 이용한 장치들이다. 이렇게 따지고 보면 빛을 이용해서 정보를 처리하는 장치들은 우리 주변에 상당히 많은 셈이다.

학자들의 말에 따르면 사람이 주변으로부터 정보를 받아들이는 수단 중에서 빛이 상당히 큰 위치를 차지한다고 한다. 이것은 여러분이 간단한 실험을 해 보아도 잘 알 수 있다. 스파이 영화나 전쟁 영화를 보면 적의 포로를 장바 반드시 눈을 가린다. 동물의 경우에는 냄새를 맡는 코가 잘 발달되어 눈에 보이지 않는 물건도 냄새로 찾아낼 수 있다. 가령 개들이 포로를 잡는다면 눈 대신 코를 막아야 할 것이다. 하지만 사람은 진화의 과정에서 대부분의 정보를 눈을 통해 받아들이도록 발달해 왔다. 그것은 빛을 통한 정보 입수가 다른 감각 기관에 비해 고급이고 많은 양의 정보를 처리할 수 있기 때문이다.





다가오는 '빛의 시대'

어떤 학자들은 다가오는 21세기를 '빛의 시대'라고 부르기도 한다. 광통신, 광메모리(CD), 표시 장치, 계측, 가공, 에너지 응용 등등 수많은 분야가 이미 실용화의 단계를 착착 밟아 나가고 있기 때문이다. 그것은 빛이 전기보다 우월한 여러 가지 특징을 가지고 있기 때문이다. 빛은 이 세상에서 가장 빠르다. 더군다나 전기와는 달리 외부로부터 영향을 받지 않기 때문에 초장거리 정보 전송이 가능하다. 레이저 광을 이용하면 고에너지를 극히 협소한 장소에 집중시키는 것이 가능해진다. 또한 극도로 짧은 시간 동안 빛을 내는 광원을 얻을 수 있다는 것도 큰 장점이다.

오늘날 빛을 이용한 '광기술'은 무척이나 다양한 분야에 퍼져 나가고 있다. 지금까지는 생각지도 못했던 많은 일들이 광기술의 응용 덕분에 얼마 후면 실용화될 수 있을 것이다. 그 중에서도 가장 각광을 받고 있는 분야가 바로 빛을 이용한 정보 처리 분야이다. "빛을 이용해서 정보 처리를 한다"는 아이디어가 처음 등장한 것은 레이저가 발명된 직후였다. 하지만 당시는 적당한 광처리 장치가 아직 등장하기 전이었다. 더군다나 그런 장치를 필요로 하는 수요도 별로 없었다. 빛을 처리할 수 있는 여러 가지 장치들이 개발된 것은 극히 최근이다. 여러 가지 광 관련 기술이 발전되면서 정보 처리에 이용될 수 있는 장치와 재료 기술이 얼마전부터야 등장하게 되었기 때문이다.

한편 정보 과학 분야에서도 초고성능 컴퓨터 개발을 위해 새로운 정보 처리 개념을 모색하게 되었다. 이 과정에서 빛에 의한 정보 처리에 대한 관심과 기대가 점차 높아지게 되었다. 이러한 배경에서 빛을 이용한 정보 처리가 주목받게 된 것이다. 이런 기술을 '광컴퓨터'또는 '광컴퓨터팅'이라고 부른다.





더 빨리, 더 많이

오늘날 우리 사회는 하루가 다르게 고도 정보화 사회로 접근하고 있다. '고도 정보화 사회'라면 무슨 굉장한 이야기처럼 들릴지 모르지만 실은 아주 간단한 뜻이다. 컴퓨터를 이용해 통신을 하거나 팩시밀리를 사용해 본 사람이라면 누구나 고도 정보화 사회에서 한 몫을 톡톡히 하고 있는 셈이다. 가느다란 전화선을 통해 그림이나 편지를 주고 받고, 데이콤이나 하이텔과 같은 통신망을 통해 새로 나온 게임을 받는 일 등은 모두 불과 몇 십년 전만 해도 상상도 할 수 없는 일들이었다.

그런데 우리 사회는 나날이 점점 더 많은 양의 정보를 처리해야 한다. 집을 벗어나 길거리로 한 발자국만 내딛으면 이미 우리는 엄청난 정보의 물결 속을 헤치고 다니는 셈이다. 집 근처의 은행에서는 '온 라인'을 통해 지방에 있는 친구에게 송금을 할 수 있다. 백화점에서 물건을 살 때에는 모든 정보가 기록되고 처리된다. 동사무소에서 주민 등록 등본을 간편하게 뗄 수 있는 것도 모든 기록이 컴퓨터화 되어있는 덕분이다. 수많은 책들을 관리하고 목록을 만드는 도서관, 다른 나라와 무역을 하는 회사, 세금을 계산하고 예산을 집행하는 정부 기관들 등등 이 모든 곳에서 처리되는 정보는 이루 헤아릴 수 없을 만큼 많다.

따라서 보다 많은 정보를 보다 빠르게 처리할 수 있는 고성능 컴퓨터에 대한 욕구는 나날이 커지고 있다. 8비트 교육용 컴퓨터를 사용하다가 16비트 286 컴퓨터를 써본 사람이라면 빠른 속도에 달아갈 것 같은 기분을 느껴보았을 것이다. 하지만 32비트 386이나 486 컴퓨터를 쓰다가 16비트 컴퓨터를 쓰려면 금방 답답해진다. 집에서 쓰는 퍼스컴도 그런 정도인데 통신 회사처럼 천문학적인 양의 정보를 처리해야 하는 곳에서는 말할 나위도 없다. 다량의 데이터를 고속으로 값싸게 처리할 수 있는 초고성능 컴퓨터에 대한 요구는 날이 갈수록 높아질 수밖에 없다.

그러면 인공 위성이 보내오는 정보를 처리해서 일기 예보등 여러 분야에 사용하는 위성 영상 처리 부분을 하나의 예로 들어보자. 매일 지구 관측 위성에서 지상으로 실로 엄청난 영상 데이터가 송신된다. 나사 (NASA, 미 항공 우주국)의 보고서에 의하면 매년 1013비트의 정보가 관측 위성으로부터 쏟아져 온다고 한다. 그런데 1995년 경부터는 연간 1016비트로 확장된 데이터로 처리해야 한다고 한다. 현재 한장의 영상을 수신해서 컴퓨터에서 필요한 처리를 거쳐 사용자의 손에까지 들어가는 데는 2-3일이 걸린다. 그런데 1995년경부터는 처리 시간이 1시간 이하로 줄어들지 않으면 요구를 따라갈 수 없다. 이러한 수요에 부응하려면 현재 보다도 108배 이상 속도가 빠른 고속 컴퓨터의 개발이 절실한 것이다.

우리에게 익숙한 텔레비전과 팩시밀리의 경우도 예외는 아니다. 지금 한창 개발이 진행되고 있는 고선명 (HD-TV) 텔레비전의 경우 매초에 약 300메가비트의 신호를 처리하지 않으면 안 된다. 현재 대규모 집적 회로 (LSI)의 처리 속도가 매초 10메가비트 정도이니까 이 정도로는 어림도 없는 셈이다.

물론 전자 업계에서는 정보 처리 수요의 폭발에 대해 초대규모 집적 회로 (VLSI), 극초대규모 집적 회로 (ULSI)등의 새로운 소자를 개발하고 있다. 그 이후에도 더 많은 트랜지스터를 집적시킨 새로운 소자의 개발이 끊이지 않겠지만 근복적으로 새로운 기술이 필요하다는 점에서는 거의 모든 사람들이 의견을 같이하고 있다.





전자에서 광자로

그래서 많은 컴퓨터 과학자들은 빛을 이용한 정보 처리 기술이 비약을 위한 열쇠를 쥐고 있다고 생각한다. 과학자들은 그동안 정보를 나르고처리하는 데 이용된 전자 대신 빛, 즉 광자(光子)를 후보로 떠올린 것이다.

잘 알고 있듯이 지금 우리가 사용하고 있는 컴퓨터는 모두 전자식이다. 전자식이 나오기 이전에는 톱니와 굴대를 이용한 기계식 계산기가 사용되었다. 그런데 이 계산기는 컴퓨터라 불리기에는 너무 원시적인 것들이어서 전자식 계산기의 출현을 최초의 컴퓨터로 받아들인다. 에니악이라 불리는 최초의 전자식 컴퓨터 이래 모든 컴퓨터는 전류의 흐름을 이용했다. 전류가 있을 때에는 1, 없을 때에는 0으로 받아들여 0과 1로 된 2진 부호로 전달하고 처리했다.

현재 광컴퓨터란 여러 가지 의미로 사용되고 있다. 그것은 아직까지 광컴퓨터의 연구가 충분히 이루어지지 않앗기 때문이다. 첫번째로는 우리가 사용하고 있는 컴퓨터에서 일부분을 빛을 이용한 장치로 바꾸는 것이다. 그러니까 전자식 컴퓨터와 똑같지만 전자 대신 빛을 이용해 컴퓨터의 성능을 높이는 방법이다. 그밖에 다음에 설명할 뉴로 컴퓨터와 결합해 서로의 기능을 보충해주는 광-뉴로 컴퓨터도 있다. 이런 컴퓨터들에 대해 살펴보기 전에 우선 왜 빛이 그토록 중요하게 떠오르는가 그 이유를 살펴보기로 하자.



왜 빛이 사용될까?

세상에서 가장 빠른 빛

많은 과학자들이 빛을 이용하려는 것은 빛이 가지고 있는 뛰어난 장점 때문이다. 그렇다면 전자를 광자로 바꾸면 어떤 점에서 좋을까?

우선 정보의 전달 속도가 비교할 수 없을 만큼 빨라진다. 이미 잘 알고 있듯이 빛은 이 세상에서 가장 빠르다. 과학 소설이나 공상 영화에선느 빛보다 빠른 '초광속' 우주선이 등장하기도 하지만 물리학자들의 말에 따르면 빛보다 빠른 물질은 존재할 수 없다고 한다. 세계적인 과학자 아인슈타인의 상대성 이론을 세울 수 있었던 것은 "어떤 물체도 빛의 속도를 넘어설 수 없다"는 사실에 토대를 두었기 때문이다. 어떤 과학자들은 타키온이라는 가상의 입자를 상상하기도 하지만 그것은 어디까지나 실제가 아닌 가상의 입자일 뿐이다. 따라서 빛의 속도로 정보를 처리할 수 있다면 지금과는 비교할 수 없을 만큼 빠른 정보 처리가 가능해진다.

그런데 이렇게 이야기하면 다음과 같은 의문이 떠오를 것이다. "전자도 빛과 같이 1초에 30만 킬로미터를 움직이는데 왜 속도가 더 느릴까?" 그 말은 맞다. 전자는 빛과 똑같은 속도로 움직인다. 하지만 전자는 전선이나 전기 회로를 따라 달릴 수밖에 없다. 그러니까 전선은 전자가 달리는 길인 셈이다. 자동차가 아무리 성능이 좋아도 비행기를 당할 수 없는 것은 바퀴가 도로 위를 달리면서 마찰을 일으키기 때문이다. 마찬가지로 전자도 전선 속으로 달리면서 전선을 만들고 있는 구리 원자와 충돌을 일으킨다. 그래서 전자는 복잡한 회로를 통과하면서 원래 속도의 절반밖에는 내지 못한다. 컴퓨터 과학자들은 배선의 길이를 가능한 줄여서 속도를 높이려고 노력한다. 슈퍼 컴퓨터가 동그란 원통 모양을 하고 있는 까닭도 가능한 배선의 길이를 줄이기 위한 것이다.



정보를 한꺼번에 처리한다

두 번째 특징으로는 정보를 한꺼번에 전달할 수 있다는 점이다. 이것을 '정보의 병렬 처리'라고 부른다. 병렬의 반대는 직렬이다. 전지를 여럿 연결시키는 방법에 직렬식과 병렬식이 있다. 직렬식은 전지를 일렬로 연결하는 방법이다. 우리가 현재 사용하고 있는 거의 모든 컴퓨터가 이런 구조를 따르고 있다.

그런데 빛을 이용하면 순차적이 아니라 병렬적으로정보를 보내고 처리할 수 있다. 가령 다음 그림과 같은 렌즈를 생각해 보기로 하자.

겨우 한 장의 렌즈를 이용할 뿐인데도 1000 X 1000점의 해상력을 가진 화상 데이터를 순간적으로 전송할 수 있다. 만약 전자식이었다면 어떻게 되었을까? 가장 쉬운 예로 텔레비전을 생각해 보자. 텔레비전은 브라운관 뒤편에 있는 전자총에서 가느다란 전자 다발 (전자 빔)을 발사해 안쪽이 코팅된 브라운관 화면에 영상을 만들어낸다. 이것을 '주사(走査)' 라고 한다. 우리가 텔레비전을 시청할 때에도 전자총은 무지무지하게 빠른 속도로 계속 전자 다발을 쏘고 있다. 그래서 마치 화면이 움직이고 있는 것처럼 보이는 것이다. 그런데 전자총은 그림에서 나오듯이 마치 공책에 글을 쓰듯 한줄 한줄 차례대로 영상을 만들어 나간다.

그런데 그 속도가 아주 빠르기 때문에 우리 눈으로는 알아볼 수 없다. 반면 빛을 이용한 화상 처리에서는 1000 X 1000개의 전선을동시에 연결시키지 않으면 안 된다. 컴퓨터나 텔레비전의 경우에는 좀더 정밀한 화상을 얻기 위해 한 장의 그림을 더 많은 조각으로 나누어야 한다. 그러니까 우리가 보고 있는 화면은 모두 작은 그림들이 모여 이루어지는 조각 그림인 셈이다. 하지만 빛은 조각들이 모이는 것이 아니라 그 자체가 화상을 만들기 때문에 얼마든지 축소 확대가 가능하다.

또한 빛은 전파에 비해 한꺼번에 훨씬 많은 정보를 나를 수 있다. 여러분은 주파수라는 말을 많이 들어 보았을 것이다. 좋아하는 라디오 방송을 들으려면 주파수를 맞추어야 한다. "여기는 ○○○ 킬로헤르츠, ○○ 방송입니다." 이때 ○○○ 킬로헤르츠라는 말이 바로 그 방송의 주파수이다. 전파는 주파수에 따라 많은 종류가 있다. AM은 중파라 불리는 낮은 주파수 대이고 FM은 비교적 높은 주파수대이다. 그런데 빛은 전파보다도 훨씬 많은 주파수를 갖는다. 그러니가 그만큼 많은 정보를 한꺼번에 전달할 수 있는 것이다.



서로 방해하지 않는다

우리가 잘 알지 못하는 빛의 특성으로는 '서로 간섭을 일으키지 않는다'는 사실이 있다. '간섭'이라고 이야기하면 무슨 뜻인지 잘 이해할 수 없겠지만 다음과 같은 예를 들면 쉽게 이해할 수 있을 것이다.

무선 전화기를 사용하다보면 혼선이 자꾸 일어나 짜증이 날 때가 많다. 그것은 가까운 거리에서 누군가 같은 주파수를 사용하기 때문이다. 텔레비전 바로 옆에서 컴퓨터를 켜면 컴퓨터에서 나오는 전자파 때문에 텔레비전의 화면이 떨린다. 이것은 모두 전기의상호 작용 때문에 생기는 현상이다. 이것은 모두 전기의 상호 작용 때문에 생기는 현상이다. 전선에 전기가 흐를 때 전선 주위에마치 동심원 모양으로 자기장이 형성된다. 그런데 바로 가까이에 다른 전선이 있으면 자기장끼리 서로 영향을 미쳐 혼선을 일으키거나 귀중한 정보를 망치기까지 한다.

하지만 빛의 경우는 다르다. 야구나 축구 경기장에서 멋진 골인이나 홈런 장면이 나올 때면 수만 관중의 눈길이 한곳에 집중된다.하지만 다른 사람의 시선 때문에 혼선이 일어나 귀중한 장면을 보지 못하는 경우는 없다. 커다란 식탁에 식구들이 둘러앉아 식사를 할 때에도 서로의 시선이 교차하면서 간섭을 일으키지는 않는다. 빛은 서로 교차하더라도 아무런 영향을 미치지 않는다.



확대와 축소가 쉬운 빛

영화 중에서도 '벤허' 같은 대작은 극장의 큰 화면에서 보아야 제격이다. 노예선이나 전차 경주를 벌이는 장면은 마치 눈 앞에서 벌어지듯 생생하다. 하지만 실제로 영화 필름을 보면 아주 작다. 그 작은 필름에서 그토록 웅장한 화면이 어떻게 만들어졌는지 신기할 정도이다. 반대로 사진기는 빛의 축소를 이용한다. 커다란 산, 길고 긴 강도 우표보다 조금 큰 한 장의 필름에 모두 담을 수 있다. 영사기나 환등기, 카메라 등은 모두 이런 빛의 성질을 이용한 장치이다.

요즈음 우리 주변에서도 영상을 이용하는 전자 제품들이 많이 등장하고 있다. 옛날에는 목소리만 들어도 불편을 모르던 전화가 모습까지 함께 볼 수 있는 영상 전화로 발전하고 있다. 대문 바깥에 불청객이 찾아오는 것을 막아주는 영상 인터폰도 있다. 또 영상이라는 말이 나오면 제일 먼저 떠오르는 것이 있다. 컴퓨터 게임이 바로 그것이다. 최근 등장하는 컴퓨터 게임들은 10메가바이트 이상되는 것들도 수두룩하다. 어떤 사람들은 게임을 즐기기 위해 용량이 큰 하드 디스크를 새로 달 정도이다. 그러면 게임들은 왜 나날이 용량이 커지는 걸까? 대답은 간단하다. 사람들이 점점 더 정교하고 깨끗한 화면을 요구하기 때문이다. 게임의 내용이 점점 더 복잡해지면서 배경이나 장면의 그림도 많아진다. 그림이 정교해지려면 전자식 컴퓨터에서는 한 장 한 장의 그림을 더 작게 나누지 않으면 안된다. 그러려면 게임은 당연히 더 많은 용량이 필요하게 되는 것이다.

이런 비디오 장치들에 빛을 이용할 수 있다면 정말 편리 할 것이다. 전자 장치처럼 빛을 전기 신호로 바꾼 다음 복잡한 과정을 거쳐 다시 빛으로 바꾸지 않고 빛을 받아서 그대로 전달하기만 하면 될테니까 말이다.

이처럼 여러 가지 장점을 가진 빛은 최근 들어 여러분야에서 활용되고 있다. 광컴퓨터를 살펴보기 앞서 우선 빛을 이용한 정보 처리 장치들을 살펴보기로 하자.



빛을 이용한 정보 처리 장치들

광센서와 바코드

광센서라면 고개를 갸우뚱할지 모르지만 바코드를 모르는 사람은 거의 없을 것이다. 우리 나라에는 들어온 지 얼마 안되지만 벌써 거의 모든 물건에서 줄무늬처럼 생긴 바코드를 쉽게 찾아볼 수 있다. 얼마 전부터는 책에까지 바코드가 채택되고 있다. 바코드의 원리는 빛을 이용해서 검은 막대처럼 생긴 선을 읽어들여 여러 가지 정보를 파악하는 것이다. 이처럼 빛을 이용해서 물체의 유무, 속도, 온도 등을 측정하는 장치를 광센서 (빛 감지기)라 한다. 광센서의 장점은 어떤 물건에 측정기를 직접 대지 않고도 정보를 파악할 수 있다는 점이다.

레이저의 발명으로 빛을 이용한 감지기는 여러 분야에서 사용되고 있다. 레이저는 태양빛이나 형광등 빛과는 달리 아주 가늘고 고른 빛이다. 우리가 보는 가시 광선이 여러 파장이 모인 빛인데 반해 레이저는 한 가지 파장만을 가진 깨끗한 빛이다. 이처럼 한 가지 파장을 가진 레이저는 한 점으로 집중시키기가 쉽다. 레이저 광선을 이용해 물건을 자르고 가공할 수 있는 것도 레이저의 이런 성질 덕분이다.

레이저는 레이저 광을 만들어내는 재료에 따라서 여러 가지로 분류된다. 광센서나 광컴퓨터에서는 반도체와 기체를 이용해 만들어지는 레이저를 사용한다. 바코드에 이용되는 레이저는 헬륨, 네온 같은 기체를 이용하는 적색광이다. 슈퍼마켓에서 바코드를 읽을 때 판독기에서 붉은 색이 나오는 이유는 그 때문이다.

그러면 바코드의 원리를 간단하게 살펴보자

바코드에는 그림고 같은 두 종류가 있다. 만국 공통 (왼쪽) 은 12자리로 맨 왼쪽에 상품 부문 번호, 메이커 (제작회사) 코드, 상품 코드 순서이다.

우리 나라에서 사용하는 한국 코드 (오른쪽) 는 13자리로 맨 앞에 국가 코드, 다음에 메이커 코드, 상품 코드가 나온다. 바코드의 종류는 달라도 원리는 똑같다. 그림에서 볼 수 있듯이, 막대들의 굵기나 간격이 일정치 않다는 것을 알 수 있다. 판독기는 이 막대의 굵기와 간격으로 여러 가지 정보를 얻게 된다.

'빛의 바이트' 로 저장하는 광디스크

이외에도 정보 처리 분야에서 빛을 이용하는 사례는 많이 찾아볼 수 있다. 사진이나 자료를 곧바로 읽어들여 디스크에 저장시키는 스캐너, 레이저를 이용해 깨끗한 출력을 볼 수 있는 레이저 프린터 등 여러 가지 입출력 장치에서 빛이 이용된다. 하지만 최근 들어 가장 각광받고 있는 것은 역시 광디스크이다. 광디스크가 처음 등장한 분야는 비디오 쪽이었다. 레코드 비슷한 원반에 영상을 담을 수 있다는 아이디어는 1920년대에 이미 나왔다. 텔레비전의 선조쯤 되는 텔레바이저라는 장치를 만든 스코틀랜드인 존 베어드가 그 장본인이다. 그는 시청자들이 화면을 조정할 수 있는 정지 영상을 축음기판에 담아 방송에 사용했다. 이런 아이디어가 레이저의 개발로 다시 빛을 본 것은 그로부터 60년이 지난 1980년대였다. 필립스와 MCA라는 두 전자 회사는 비디오테이프를 작게 만드는 데에 한계가 있다는 점을 절실히 깨닫고 있었다. 더군다나 비디오테이프를 이용해 학습을 하려면 테이프 중간중간에 담긴 내용을 찾으려고 이리저리 되감지 않으면 안된다. 그래서 두 회사는 레이저를 이용해 작은 디스크에 영상을 담기 위한 노력을 계속했다. 오늘날 우리가 사용하는 콤팩트 디스크는 1980년에야 등장했다. 최초의 콤팩트 디스트를 성공시킨 회사는 필립스와소니였다.

최초의 콤팩트 디스크 (CD)가 각광을 받은 것은 용량보다는 깨끗한 음질이었다. 기존의 레코드는 바늘이 홈을 따라 돌기 때문에 아무리 잘 만들어도 잡음을 없앨 수 없었다. 하지만 CD는 정교한 레이저 광선이 판에 나있는 미세한 돌기를 읽어들여 음으로 재생하기 때문에 티끌 하나 없이 깨끗한 음악과 영상을 즐길 수 있다.

광디스크를 컴퓨터 기억 장치로 처음 개발한 곳은 매사추세츠 공과 대학 (MIT)이었다. 이 대학의 연구팀은 방대한 영상 자료를 저장하는데 광디스크를 이용했다. 시디-롬 (CD-ROM)이라는 이름으로 불리는 컴퓨터용 광디스크를 상업용으로 개발한 회사도 역시 필립스와 소니였다. 시디-롬에서 롬 (ROM) 이란 '읽기 전용 메모리 (Read-Only Memory)'라는 뜻이다. 그러니까 '롬'이란 말이 붙은 저장 장치는 일기만 할 뿐 쓰지는 못한다는 뜻이다. 처음 등장한 시디-롬은 글로리어 백과 사전이었다. 이 사전에는 모두 9백만 단어가 수록되어 있었는데 시디-롬 한 장의 12퍼센트밖에는 차지 않았다. 그래서 나머지 공간에는 백과사전을 쉽게 찾아볼 수 있는 색인을 집어넣었다. 그래도 디스크에는 많은 여백이 남았다. 시디-롬 한 장은 보통 550메가바이트 이상의 용량을 갖는다. 우리가 사용하는 플로피 디스켓 중 제일 용량이 큰 것이 1.2메가바이트니까 500배 이상의 용량을 가지는 셈이다.

그러면 어떻게 12센티미터의 시디-롬 한 장에 그렇게 많은 내용이 들어갈 수 있을까? 전자 현미경을 이용해 광디스크의 표면을 관찰해 보면 다음 그림과 같은 모습을 볼 수 있다. 이 돌기의 크기는 박테리아와 비슷한 0.6미크론 (1미크론은 1000분의 1밀리미터) 정도이다. 렌즈를 이용해 초점이 맞추어진 가느다란 레이저 빔이 광디스크에 이런 돌기를 만든다. 디스크를 판독할 때에도 약한 레이저를 이용한다. 따라서 작은 디스크 한 장에도 아주 조밀하게 자료를 기록할 수 있는 것이다.

시디-롬처럼 읽을 수만 읽고 고치거나 쓸 수 없는 광 디스크를 제1세대라고 한다. 요즈음 많이 나온 전자 사전이나 비디오 디스크, 음악 재생용 콤팩트 디스크 등이 모두 여기에 속한다. 1세대에 뒤이어 나온 2세대 광디스크는 종이와 펜에 비유된다. 즉 정보나 자료를 읽고 쓸 수는 있지만 지울수는 없다. 최근에는 읽고, 쓰고, 지우고, 수정하는 등 자유자재로 사용이 가능한 제3세대 광디스크가 등장하고 있다. 또한 동그란 원반 모양이 아니라 카드 모양의 광 기억 장치도 개발되고 있다. 요즈음 자기 기억 장치를 이용한 카드는 용량이 얼마 되지 않아 조금밖에는 내용을 기억할 수 없다. 하지만 레이저를 이용하는 광-카드가 널리 사용된다면 손바닥만한 카드에 수백 권 되는 분량의 책을 넣고 다닐 수 있는 셈이다. 게다가 필요하면 언제든지 내용을 지우고 다른 자료를 저장할 수 있으니 정말 꿈과 같은 이야기라 할 수 있다. 이제 광-카드 시대가 올 날도 그다지 멀지 않은 셈이다.



광컴퓨터, 어디까지 왔나

지금까지 우리는 광컴퓨터를 이해하기 위해 필요한 사전 지식을 다루었다. 그런데 이 책을 읽는 사람들에게는 아직까지 광컴퓨터의 모습이 선명하게 잡히지 않을 것이다. 어떤 사람은 "그러면 도대체 광컴퓨터가 어떻게 생겼을까?"하는 의문을 품을 것이다. 스캐너라든가 바코드는 직접 눈으로 볼 수 있으니가 "아하! 그렇게 생긴 것 말이구나."하고 쉽게 짐작을 할 수 있다. 그런데 광컴퓨터는 어떻게 생긴것인지 알 수 없다. 왜냐하면 진정한 의미에서 광컴퓨터가 아직 만들어지지 않았기 때문이다.



입력이나 출력, 저장 장치 등 부분적인 기능에 빛을 이용하는 장치는 이미 폭넓게 사용되고 있다. 하지만 정작 컴퓨터의 핵심이라 할 수 있는 중앙 처리 장치에서는 아직가지 빛을 이용하는 방법이 완전히 개발되지 않은 상태이다. 그러면 광컴퓨터의 개발이 늦어지고 있는 이유는 무얼까? 우리는 앞에서 빛이 가지는 장점을 여러 가지 살펴보았다. 그러나 빛에는 장점뿐 아니라 단점도 있다. 특히 다른 빛과 간섭을 일으키지 않는다는 장점은 곧바로 단점으로 연결된다. 왜냐하면 그만큼 빛을 조절하기 어렵기 때문이다. 전자의 경우에는 자기장의 변화에 민감하게 반응을 한다. 이 단점은 역으로 자기장을 이용해 전자의 흐름을 통제할 수 있다는 뜻이 되기도 한다. 빛을 이용해 자료나 정보를 처리하기 위해서는 자유자재로 빛의 흐름을 조절하고 정보를 실어 나를 수 있는 방법이 개발되어야 한다. 그런데 빛은 전자보다 조절이 어렵기 때문에 그런 방법이나 장치를 개발하는 데 많은 시간이 걸리는 것이다.



하지만 앞으로 나오게 될 바이오 컴퓨터나 뉴로 컴퓨터에 비한다면 광컴퓨터는 상당히 연구가 진전된 셈이다. 지금 광컴퓨터를 연구하는 학자들이 가장 관심을 갖는 분야는 전자식 컴퓨터의 구조는 그대로 유지하면서 전자식의 단점을 보충하기 위한 작업이다.



그 중에서도 가장 빠른 속도로 진행되고 있는 연구가 광섬유를 이용한 컴퓨터이다. 앞에서도 설명했지만 전자는 한꺼번에 많은 정보를 전달할 수 없다. 또한 전선을 따라 움직이기 때문에 혼선이 생기거나 잡음을 만들 수도 있다. 그래서 정보를 처리하는 데는 전자를 이용하고 처리된 결과를 이동시키는 데는 빛을 이용하는 원리이다. 컴퓨터의 심장부인 중앙 처리 장치와 프린터, 기억 장치를 연결시키는 데 광섬유를 이용한다. 광섬유 직경이 0.1밀리미터 정도되는 가느다란 유리로 된 섬유이다. 섬유 안쪽은 순도가 높은 유리로 덮여 있다. 그래서 빛은 밖으로 새어나가지 않고 계속 반사되면서 구부러진 길도 따라갈 수 있다. 이런 방법은 컴퓨터뿐 아니라 고급 음향 기기에서도 사용된다. 앰프와 스피커를 연결시키는 데 전선을 사용하면 주변 전파의 영향을 받아 미세한 잡음이 생길 수 있다. 하지만 광섬유를 이용하면 원음에 가까운 좋은 음질을 얻을 수 있다.



한편 과학자들은 앞에서 설명했던 빛의 장점을 최대한 살리는 병렬식 광컴퓨터를 만들려는 연구를 계속하고 있다. 빛은 전자와는 달리 병렬식 처리가 뛰어나다. 특히 우리 눈에 보이는 영상을 전기 신호로 바꾸지 않고 그대로 전달할 수 있다는 점에서 몹시 뛰어나다. 이런 성질을 이용하면 전자식 컴퓨터에서는 생각할 수 없었던 병렬식 컴퓨터를 만들 수 있을 것이다.



현재 병렬식 컴퓨터에 대한 연구는 뒤에 설명이 나올 뉴로 컴퓨터와 결합하는 방안이 많이 모색되고 있다. 최근 일본에서 활발한 연구가 계속되고 있는 광-뉴로 컴퓨터는 광컴퓨터와 뉴로 컴퓨터의 장점을 최대한 살려 문자를 학습할 수 있다. 또한 사람처럼 글자 한 귀퉁이가 떨어져 나가도 어떤 글자인지 '영상'할 수 있는 능력을 가지고 있다.
