파사석탑에는 문외한이라 인터넷을 뒤져 합당한 글을 보고 옮겨 보았습니다. 김해 금강병원 원장님으로 계시는 허명철의학박사님의 글입니다. 필요한 부분만 떼왔습니다. ...김해 구산동 구지봉 산자락에는 사적 제 74호인 가야 수로왕비인 허황옥의 무덤이 있다. 이 경내에는 허황후가 인도 아유타국에서 가야로 시집오면서 가져 온 탑이라고 전하는 파사석탑婆娑石塔이 있다. 하도 마모와 파괴가 심하여 두께 20㎝ 정도의 돌 다섯 개를 그냥 쌍아놓은 것 같다.(사실입니다)


15년 전의 일이지만 모 신문사 언론인이 김해 허황후 무덤에 뭉그러진 다섯 개 돌덩어리를 쌓아 놓고 탑이라고 주장하고 있다고 하면서, 유물이 부족하다보니 뭉그러진 돌을 쌓아두고 야단이라고 한 말이 기억이 난다. 그때 역사에 대하여 문외한인 나의 눈에도 형편없이 망가진데다가 우리나라에 존재하는 탑의 크기와는 비교가 안될 정도로 높이 120㎝의 낮은 것이어서 탑이라는 개념은커녕 돌무더기에 불과하였다. 이 탑이 2000년 전 인도에서 가져온 파사석탑이라고 전설적으로 구전되고 있으며, 문중에서 겨우 관리하는 정도로 지방 문화재조차도 등록하지 않은 그야말로 잊혀지고 버려진 돌무더기에 불과하였다. 문화재관리국이나 석탑을 전문으로 다루는 불교계까지도 아예 이것을 탑으로 인정하지 않을 뿐 아니라 관심 밖에 있었다.


과연 탑이 아닐까? 돌덩어리에 불과한 것일까? 전설인 구전설화는 진실성이 없는 것일까? 나는 구전설화를 믿으면서 2000년 전 역사로 돌아가서 하나하나 음미해 보고 싶었다.


삼국유사 금관성(김해) 파사석탑편에 이 파사석탑은 수로왕의 왕비 허황옥이 인도 아유타국의 공주로서 왕비가 되기 위하여 가야국으로 항해하여 올 때 가져온 것이며, 공주가 양친의 명을 받들어 바다를 건너 동으로 향해 가야국으로 올 때 파도신(波申)의 노여움을 만나 항해를 할 수 없어 다시 돌아가 부친께 사실을 고하니 부왕께서 이 탑을 싣고 가게하여 무사히 가야국에 도착할 수 있게 하였다. 이 탑은 모가 진 사면의 5층이고 조각이 매우 기이하며, 조금 붉은 빛의 반전이 있고 석질이 좋아 우리나라에서 나는 돌이 아니라고 기록하고 있다.


이 탑이 波申을 눌러 파도를 진정시키므로 일명 진풍탑鎭風塔이라고도 한다. 그러므로 사람들이 이 탑의 돌을 가지고 항해나 고기잡이를 가면 파신의 노여움을 사지 않는다고 믿고 몰래 조금씩 떼어가 망가뜨렸기 때문에 사각형의 돌이 마치 원형처럼 망가지게 되었다고 한다.


일연선사의 기록에 의하면 우리나라의 돌이 아니라고 하였으며 본초강목이라는 중국 한약책에 보면 婆娑石은 해독작용이 있으며 아주 값비싸므로 가짜가 많아 진위를 가리는 법으로, 태우면 유황 냄새가 나며, 닭벼슬 피를 묻히면 응고되지 않고 피가 물로 화하여 흘러내린다고 하였다. 그래서 나는 이 탑돌아래 아주 적은 파편을 주워서 실험해 본 결과 분명 파사석이 확실하였다.


파사석탑의 '婆娑'의 뜻은 무엇일까? 노파'婆', 춤출'娑' 즉 노파가 춤추는 석탑이 되는데 이런 불탑명이 있을 수 없으므로 한문식 뜻이 아니라는 것은 분명하다. 그래서 인도의 범어식 뜻으로 음미해 보면 '婆'는 'Bha'로서 진리이고 '娑'는 'Sa'로 존재한다는 뜻이다. 즉 진리가 현존하는 탑이라는 뜻이다. 따라서 인도식 석탑명이 분명하므로 인도에서 제작되었다고 유추할 수 있다. 이렇게 실험과 언어적 고찰 등을 하면서 곰곰히 탑의 실체에 대해 생각하면 할수록 더욱 더 불탑이 확실하다는 심증이 굳어지게 되었다. 그러나 어떻게 학문적으로 과학적으로 증명할 것인가 하는 많은 어려움이 있었다. 더욱이 약 2000년전에 범선을 타고 죽음의 바다인 인도양을 거쳐서 인도에서 가야까지 항해를 과연 할 수 있었겠는가? 그 답은 대부분 부정적일 수밖에 없다. 따라서 탑을 인도에서 가져왔다는 것을 믿기에는 많은 항해사적 고증이 필요한 것이다.


...가야사를 구성하는 요소는 정치, 경제, 문화, 종교등 다양하지만 나는 우선 전설적으로 김해사람이라면 누구나 믿고 있는 우리나라 최초의 불교 도래지가 고구려(소수림왕 AD 372년)가 아니라 가야(AD 48년)라는 사실에 비추어 종교분야에서 가야불교의 증명, 복원, 확립을 하기로 했기 때문이다.


허황후는 국제결혼을 통하여 인도 아유타국에서 시집오면서 가져온 파사석탑과 더불어 불교를 최초로 전래하였다는 것이다. 중국 모화사상에 물든 저자 김부식이 쓴 삼국사기에는 AD 372년 중국에서 다소 강압적으로 고구려 소수림왕께 전파하는 왕권불교로 이것이 한국 최초의 불교전래로 기록하고 있으나, 고려 충렬왕때 일연스님이 쓴 삼국유사에는 AD 48년 허황후가 파사석탑과 함께 최초로 전래한 것으로 기록하고 있다. 그러나 이 삼국유사의 기록은 전설인양 정사로 잘 인정하지 않으려고 하는 것이 1980년대까지만 해도 우리나라 사학계의 흐름이었다.


불교의 전래를 증명하려면 반드시 삼요소가 성립되어야 한다. 즉, 佛(불상 및 불탑), 法(불경책), 僧(스님)이다. 따라서 가야불교를 증명하려면 옛 가야 땅 어디를 헤매어서라도 불탑을 반듯이 찾아내야 하는 것이다. 6가야 지역을 돌아다녀도 의심가는 탑이라고는 뭉그러진 다섯 돌덩이로 전설을 간직한 이 파사석탑 뿐이었다.


잠깐 불교의 미술학적 이야기를 하자면 인도에서 불상은 언제부터 만들었느냐 하는 것이다. BC 5세기에 석가모니 부처님의 열반 후 많은 탑을 세워 사리를 보관하여 부처님을 대하듯 경배하면서 불법을 전파하였다. AD 1세기말경에는 부처님에 대한 경애심이 강하여 불상을 만들기 시작하였다. BC 5세기∼AD 1세기까지는 無佛像시기이며, AD 1세기말 이후부터 불상을 만들기 시작하였다. 즉 허왕후가 시집온 AD 48년에는 인도에서 조차도 불상을 만들지 않았으므로 허왕후는 불상이 아닌 불탑을 가져올 수 밖에 없었다는 것이다. 그 탑은 어느 것이며 어떻게 생긴 것일까? 이것을 풀어야 가야사의 수수께끼는 풀리게 되는 것이다.




가야불교의 증명으로 종교문화의 전래가 중국을 통해 들어온 것보다 불교의 발생지인 인도에서 국제결혼을 통하여 평화적이며 자율적으로 직접 전래되었다는 것이 나을 것이고 또, 한국 최초의 불교 전래지가 김해라면 가야 후예인에게 역사적 긍지가 있을 수 있다는 점 등에서 꼭 이 수수께끼를 풀어야 했다.


지성이면 감천이라 명상기도 덕택인지 몰라도 꿈에 파사석탑 아래에서 너무도 아름답고 맑은 백의의 관음보살님이 두 손을 내밀며 당겨달라는 듯 하였다. 그날 밤 꿈을 꾼 후 잠을 설치고 아침 일찍 돌탑에 가서 다시 살피기 시작하였다. 탑돌 아래에 이상한 문양이 보였는데 인도 어느 사원에서 볼 수 있는 문양과 비슷하다는 감을 느꼈다.


이 돌탑은 그동안 신성시하여 특히 왕능을 지키는 노인장께서 더욱 그러기에 감히 망그러진 돌을 쌓아 놓은 둣하지만 해체 분해할 생각초차도 할 수 없었다. 또 분해해 본다 해도 어떠한 결과가 있을 것 같지 않았기 때문에 200회 이상 다녀도 그저 바라보고 경배시 할 뿐이었다. 그동안 관찰의 대상이 되면서 점점 친숙하게 되고 어느새 나도 모르게 더욱더 경배시하였기에 소중히 모시는 것은 아주 두려운 일이었지만 그러나 꿈에서 손을 내미는 것을 미루어보면 꼭 분해해 보아야 할 것 같았다.


분해한다는 것은 그저 무너지지 않고 안전하게, 넓고 큰 돌은 아래로, 좁고 적은 돌은 위로 순서대로 쌓아놓은 삼각형 형태를 다시 하나씩 내려놓고 관찰하는 것 뿐이었다. 드디어 분해하기 시작하였다. 아주 정중히 소중하게 숨을 죽이면서 가만히 가만히 하였다. 놀라웠고 놀라웠다. 그저 이름없는 돌이 아니라 사리보관소의 구멍(지름 10㎝, 깊이 6㎝)이 있는 돌과 사리공을 덮는 뚜껑돌을 발견하면서 이것은 분명히 탑이라는 사실을 확인하였다. 물론 사리는 없었다. 그것은 예견된 사실이었다. 이 탑이 원래 허황후가 계신 궁중터 즉, 호계사라는 절터에 있던 것을 약 130년전 김해부사가 왕후께서 가져오신 것이라고 능침 곁으로 옮겨 모시게 하였기 때문이다. 각 돌마다 정교히 측정하면서 무늬모양도 세밀히 관찰하였다. 역사적으로 이 탑의 이름만 있을 뿐, 그 크기나 형태에 대한 기록은 한 곳도 없었기에 이번 분해로 탑이 분명하다는 사실을 발견하였다.


이 탑을 분석 조사한 결과를 토대로 원형대로 석고를 복원하였더니 놀랍게도 그 모양이 삼각형이 안정형이 아닌 역삼각형으로 아래층이 좁고 위로 갈수록 넓고 큰 돌로 쌓이게 되었다. 이런 형태의 탑은 우리나라에는 아예 없고, 인도의 동굴사원인 아잔타 엘로아나식에서 볼 수 있는 축소형 스트파 즉, 불탑과 일치하였다. 그 형태, 크기, 문양, 사리보관소, 석질, 탑명 등을 확인 검토한 결과 인도에서 만들어 가져온 축소형 불탑이 분명하므로, 허왕후가 인도에서 불교를 직접 김해로 전파하였다는 것을 확인할 수 있는 역사적으로 소중한 물적자료가 되었다.


이제 이 탑은 전설이 아닌 삼국유사에 기록된 국보가 분명하므로 지방문화재로서 겨우 등록되어 세인의 이목을 받으며 가야에 남은 유일무이한 국보급문화재가 되었다. 이 긴 여정의 역사풀이로 허왕후께 다소나마 후손으로서 일을 한 듯 하며, 잊혀진 국보급 파사석탑에 새로운 경애심을 느끼며 가야인의 후예임을 자랑스럽게 느끼게 되었다

금관가야 성립의 한 축인 허황후의 도래는 여전히 미스테리가 많습니다, 그 누구도 정확히 단정짓지 못하고 추정 할 뿐인데 전하는 말을 쫒아 그 초행길을 더듬어 보면 다음과 같습니다.


가락국의 왕이 된 수로는 이듬해 궁궐을 새로 짓는 등 내치에 힘쏟는데, 그때까지도 마땅한 배필이 없어 신하들이 배필을 맞아들일 것을 청합니다. 그 상황을 삼국유사 <가락국기>는 다음과 같이 전하고 있습니다.




屬建武二十四年戊申七月二十七日 九干等朝謁之次 獻言曰 大王降靈已來 好仇未得. 請臣等所有處女絶好者 選入宮闈 俾爲伉儷. 王曰 朕降于玆 天命也. 配朕而作后 亦天之命. 卿等無慮. 遂命留天干 押輕舟 持駿馬 到望山島立待. 申命神鬼干 就乘岾[望山島 京南島嶼也 乘岾 輦下國也]. 忽自海之西南隅 掛緋帆 張茜旗 而指乎北. 留天等先擧火於島上 則競渡下陸 爭奔而來. 神鬼望之 走入闕奏之. 上聞欣欣 尋遣九干等 整蘭橈 揚桂楫 而迎之. 旋欲陪入內. 王后乃曰 我與爾等素昧平生 焉敢輕忽相隨而去. 留天等返達后之語. 王然之 率有司動蹕 從闕下西南六十步許地 山邊設幔殿祗候. 王后 於山外別浦津頭 維舟登陸 憩於高嶠 解所著綾袴爲贄 遺于山靈也. 其地侍從媵臣二員 名曰申輔·趙匡 其妻二人 號慕貞·慕良 或臧獲幷計二十餘口. 所錦繡綾羅·衣裳疋段·金銀珠玉·瓊玖服玩器 不可勝記. 王后漸近行在 上出迎之 同入帷宮. 媵臣已下衆人 就階下而見之卽退. 上命有司 引媵臣夫妻曰 人各以一房安置 已下臧獲 各一房五六人安置 給之以蘭液蕙 寢之以文茵彩薦. 至於衣服疋段寶貨之類 多以軍夫集而護之. 於是 王與后 共在御國寢. 從容語王曰 妾是阿踰國公主也. 姓許 名黃玉 年二八矣. 在本國時 今年五月中 父王與皇后 顧妾而語曰 爺孃一昨夢中 同見皇天上帝. 謂曰 駕洛國元君首露者 天所降而俾御大寶 乃神乃聖 惟其人乎. 且以新莅家邦 未定匹偶 卿等須遣公主 而配之. 言訖升天. 形開之後 上帝之言 其猶在耳. 於此而忽辭親 向彼乎往矣. 妾也 浮海遐尋於蒸棗 移天夐赴於蟠桃 首敢叨 龍顔是近. 王答曰 朕生而頗聖 先知公主自遠而屆. 下臣有納妃之請 不敢從焉. 今也 淑質自臻 眇躬多幸. 遂以合歡 兩過淸宵 一經白晝. 於是 遂還來船 篙工楫師共十有五人 各賜粮粳米十碩·布三十疋 令歸本國.


八月一日 廻鑾 與后同輦 媵臣夫妻 齊鑣並駕 其漢肆雜物 咸使乘載 徐徐入闕. 時銅壺欲午. 王后爰處中宮. 勅賜媵臣夫妻私屬 空閑二室分入. 餘外從者 以賓館一坐二十餘間 酌定人數 區別安置 日給豊羨. 其所載珍物 藏於內庫 以爲王后四時之費.




건무(建武) 24년 무신년(서기 48년) 7월 27일, 아홉 간들이 입궐하여 뵙고 말씀을 올렸다. “대왕께서 하늘에서 내려오신 이래 아직 좋은 배필을 얻지 못하셨습니다. 청컨대 신(臣)들의 시집가지 않은 딸들 가운데 가장 좋은 사람을 뽑아서 궁궐로 들여 배필로 삼으소서.”




왕이 말하기를,

“짐(朕)이 이곳에 내려온 것은 하늘의 명에 의한 것이다. 짐의 짝이 되어 왕후가 될 사람도 역시 하늘에서 명하실 것이니, 경들은 염려하지 말라!” 고 하고는, 드디어 유천간(留天干)에게 명하여 가벼운 배와 좋은 말을 가지고 망산도(望山島)에 가서 기다리게 하였다. 또 신귀간(神鬼干)에게 명하여 승점(乘岾)[망산도는 서울의 남쪽에 있는 섬이다. 승점은 임금의 가마가 닿을 만큼 가까운 언덕이다.]으로 가게 하였는데, 갑자기 바다의 서남쪽 모퉁이로부터 붉은 돛을 단 배가 꼭두서니빛 깃발(旗)을 휘날리며 북쪽으로 향해오고 있었다. 유천간 등이 먼저 섬에서 불을 피우고, 곧 물을 건너 뭍으로 내려와서 앞다투어 달려왔다. 신귀간이 이것을 바라보고 대궐로 달려들어가 아뢰었다.




임금이 이를 듣고 기뻐하면서, 곧이어 아홉 간들을 보내어 목련(木蓮)으로 만든 노를 가지런히 하고 계수나무로 만든 노를 들어서 맞이하게 하였다. 아홉 간들이 되돌아서 모시고 궁궐로 들어가려고 하는데, 왕후가 말하기를, “내가 너희들을 평생 알지 못한 터에 어찌 경솔하게 따라 가겠는가?” 라고 하였다.

유천간 등이 돌아와 왕후의 말을 전하니, 임금이 그 말을 옳다고 여겨 관리들을 거느리고 행차하여, 궁궐로부터 서남쪽 6천보(步) 가량 되는 곳의 산기슭에 장막을 치고 왕후를 기다렸다.




왕후는 산너머의 별포(別浦) 나루터에 배를 매어두고 상륙하여, 높은 고개에 올라가 쉬었는데, 입고 있던 비단바지를 벗어서 폐백으로 삼아 산신령에게 바쳤다. 그 나라에서부터 시종하여 온 잉신(媵臣)이 두 사람이었는데, 신보(申輔)와 조광(趙匡)이라고 하였고, 그들의 처 두 사람은 모정(慕貞)과 모량(慕良)이라고 불렀다. 따로 노비가 도합 20여명이었고, 가지고 온 각종 비단과 의복, 금・은・주옥과 각종 구슬, 보물과 그릇들을 이루 다 기록할 수 없을 정도였다.




왕후가 점차 행궁에 가까이 오자, 임금이 나아가 맞이하여 함께 장막 궁전으로 들어왔다. 잉신과 그 아래의 무리들은 계단 아래에서 알현하고 곧 물러갔다. 임금은 관원을 시켜 잉신 부처들을 인도하게 하며 말하였다.


“사람마다 각각 한 방씩 쓰게 하고, 그 이하의 노비들은 한 방에 대여섯 사람씩 들어가 쉬게 하라.”

그리고는 그들에게 맛있는 음료와 식사를 내리게 하고 무늬와 채색이 있는 이부자리에서 자게 하였다. 그리고 의복과 비단과 보물들은 군사들을 많이 배치하여 지키도록 하였다.




이에 왕과 왕후가 함께 잠자리에 들었는데, 왕후가 조용히 왕께 말하였다.

“저는 아유타국(阿踰陀國)의 공주로 성은 허(許)이고, 이름은 황옥(黃玉)이며, 나이는 열 여섯입니다. 본국에 있을 때인 금년 5월에 부왕과 황후께서 저에게 말하기를, ⌈아버지와 어머니가 어젯밤 꿈에 똑같이 황천상제(皇天上帝)를 뵈었는데, 말씀하시기를 ‘가락국 원군(元君) 수로라는 자는 하늘에서 내려보내어 왕위에 오르게 하였으니, 신성하다고 하는 것은 오직 이 사람을 두고 하는 말이다. 그가 나라를 세우고 다스리는데 아직 배필을 정하지 못하였으니, 그대들은 모름지기 공주를 보내어 그의 배필로 삼게 하라.’고 하시고는 말을 마치자 하늘로 올라갔다. 꿈에서 깬 후에도 상제의 말씀이 여전히 귓가에 맴돌았다. 너는 이제 곧장 우리와 작별하고 그에게로 가도록 하라.⌋고 하셨습니다. 저는 바다를 건너서 멀리 증조(蒸棗: 남쪽 바다의 섬)를 찾아가기도 했고, 방향을 바꾸어 아득히 반도(蟠桃: 동쪽 바다의 섬)로도 가보았습니다. 이제 보잘 것 없는 얼굴로 외람되이 용안(龍顔)을 가까이하게 되었습니다.”




왕이 대답하였다.

“짐은 나면서부터 자못 신성하여 공주가 멀리서부터 올 것을 미리 알고 있었소. 그래서 아래 신하들로부터 왕비를 받아들이라는 청이 있었으나 들어주지 않았소. 이제 현숙한 그대가 몸소 찾아왔으니 이 몸에게는 커다란 행복이오.”

드디어 동침하여 이틀 밤과 하루 낮을 지냈다. 이에 공주가 타고 왔던 배를 되돌려 보냈는데, 뱃사공들 열 다섯 명에게 각각 쌀 10섬씩과 베 30필씩을 주어 본국으로 돌아가게 하였다.




8월 1일에 왕이 왕후와 수레를 함께 타고 돌아오는데, 잉신 부처들도 말고삐를 나란히 하여 수레를 탔다. 중국산의 갖가지 물건들도 모두 수레에 실어 서서히 궁궐로 들어오니, 때를 알리는 물시계[銅壺]는 정오를 가리키려고 하였다. 왕후는 중궁에 거처케 하고, 잉신 부처와 그 종들에게는 빈 집 두 채를 주어 나누어 들게 하였으며, 나머지 종들은 20여 칸 되는 객관 한 채에 사람 수를 적당히 배정하여 따로따로 안치하고, 매일 풍족한 음식을 제공하였다. 싣고 온 보물들은 궁궐 안의 창고에 수장하여 왕후가 사시사철 쓰는 비용으로 삼았다




허황후는 기원 189년 157세의 나이로 세상을 떠나 구지봉 동북쪽 언덕에 묻힐 때까지 왕의 곁에서 내조를 다했다고 합니다. 백성들은 왕비를 잊지 못하여 왕비가 처음 배에서 내린 나룻가의 마을을 주포촌(主浦村)이라 하고, 비단 바지를 벗었던 산등성이를 능현(陵峴), 붉은 깃발이 들어왔던 해변을 기출변(旗出邊)이라고 했습니다. 또 가락국의 질지왕은 452년 왕과 왕비가 혼례를 치른 곳에 왕후사(王后寺)를 세워 명복을 빌었다고 합니다.





구지봉은 원래는 거북이 머리 모양을 닮았다 하여 구수봉(龜首峰)이라 불리었는데 지금의 수로왕비릉이 있는 평탄한 위치가 거북의 몸체이고 서편으로 쪽 내민 것이 거북의 머리모양이라고 하여 구지봉(龜旨峰)이라 불리고 있습니다.



역시 삼국유사(번역: 강종훈)에 따르면 구지봉에서 일어난 수로왕의 천겅과 개국을 다음과 같이 전하고 있습니다.

屬後漢世祖光武帝建武十八年壬寅三月禊洛之日 所居北龜旨[是峯巒之稱 若十朋伏之狀 故云也] 有殊常聲氣呼喚. 衆庶二三百人 集會於此. 有如人音 隱其形而發其音曰 此有人否. 九干等云 吾徒在. 又曰 吾所在爲何. 對云 龜旨也. 又曰 皇天所以命我者 御是處 惟新家邦 爲君后 爲玆故降矣. 等須掘峯頂撮土 歌之云 龜何龜何 首其現也 若不現也 燔灼而喫也. 以之蹈舞 則是迎大王 歡喜踴躍之也. 九干等如其言 咸忻而歌舞. 未幾 仰而觀之 唯紫繩自天垂而着地. 尋繩之下 乃見紅幅裏金合子 開而視之 有黃金卵六·圓如日者. 衆人悉皆驚喜 俱伸百拜. 尋還裏著抱持 而歸我刀家 寘榻上 其衆各散. 過浹辰 翌日平明 衆庶復相聚集開合. 而六卵化爲童子 容貌甚偉 仍坐於床. 衆庶拜賀 盡恭敬止. 日日而大 踰十餘晨昏 身長九尺則殷之天乙 顔如龍焉則漢之高祖 眉之八彩則有唐之高 眼之重瞳則有虞之舜. 其於月望日卽位也. 始現 故諱首露 或云首陵.[首陵是崩後諡也.] 國稱大駕洛 又稱伽耶國 卽六伽耶之一也. 餘五人各歸爲五伽耶主. 東以黃山江 西南以滄海 西北以地理山 東北以伽耶山 南而爲國尾. 俾創假宮而入御 但要質儉 茅茨不剪 土階三尺.



후한(後漢)의 세조(世祖) 광무제(光武帝) 건무(建武) 18년 임인년(서기 42년) 3월 계욕일(禊浴日)에 그들이 살고 있던 곳의 북쪽에 있는 구지(龜旨)[이는 산봉우리 이름이다. 마치 거북이가 엎드린 형상이므로 이렇게 부른 것이다.]에서 이상한 소리가 나며 무엇인가 부르는 듯한 기척이 있었다. 무리 2・3백 명이 이곳에 모여드니, 사람 소리 같은 것이 나는데 형체는 감추고 소리만 내어 말하였다.
“여기에 사람이 있느냐? 없느냐?” 아홉 간(干)들이 대답하였다.
“우리들이 있습니다.”
또 말하기를,
“내가 있는 곳을 무엇이라 하느냐?” 라고 하니, 대답하기를,
“구지라고 합니다.” 라고 하였다.
다시 말하기를, “하느님[皇天]께서 내게 명하시기를, 이곳을 다스려서 나라를 새롭게 하고 임금[君后]이 되라고 하셨다. 이런 이유로 내려온 것이다. 너희들은 모름지기 봉우리 꼭대기를 파서 흙을 뿌리며 노래 부르기를,
‘거북아, 거북아! 머리를 내밀어라. 만약 아니 내밀면 불에 구워 먹으리라.’ 고 하고, 뛰면서 춤을 추어라. 그러면 곧 대왕을 맞이하여 기뻐서 뛰게 되리라.” 고 하였다. 아홉 간들이 그 말대로 모두 즐거운 마음으로 노래를 부르고 춤을 추었다. 조금 있다가 머리를 들어 바라보니 자줏빛 끈이 하늘로부터 드리워 땅에 닿아 있었다. 끈이 내려와 있는 곳을 찾아가니, 붉은 보자기로 싼 금빛 상자가 보였다. 열어서 보니, 해와 같이 둥근 황금 알 여섯 개가 있었다. 무리들이 모두 놀라고 기뻐서, 함께 백 번 절을 하였다. 얼마 후 다시 알을 싸서 안고 아도간의 집으로 돌아와 탁자 위에 두고는 무리들이 각기 흩어졌다.
열 이틀이 지나고 난 다음날 동이 틀 무렵에 무리들이 다시 함께 모여 상자를 열었더니, 알 여섯 개가 사내아이로 변화하여 있었는데, 용모가 매우 훌륭하였다. 이에 평상 위에 앉히고, 무리들이 하례의 절을 올리니, 그 정성이 극진하였다.
아이들은 나날이 성장하여 십여 일이 지나자, 신장이 9척이나 되어 은(殷)나라의 천을(天乙)이요, 얼굴은 용과 같으니 한나라의 고조(高祖)요, 눈썹은 여덟 색깔을 띠매 당(唐)나라의 고(高)임금이요, 눈동자가 겹으로 되어서 우(虞)나라 순(舜)임금이었다.
그 달 보름에 왕위에 올랐다. 처음으로 나왔으므로 이름을 수로(首露)라 하였다. 혹은 수릉(首陵)이라고도 한다.[이것은 돌아가신 후의 시호이다.] 그리고 나라 이름을 대가락(大駕洛)이라 하였다. 또한 가야국(伽耶國)이라고도 일컬었으니, 곧 여섯 가야의 하나이다.
나머지 다섯 사람은 각각 돌아가 다섯 가야의 우두머리가 되었다. 동쪽은 황산강(黃山江)이요, 서남쪽은 넓은 바다요, 서북쪽은 지리산(地理山)이요, 동북쪽은 가야산(伽耶山)이요, 남쪽은 나라의 끝으로 되었다. 임시 궁궐을 짓게 하여 들어가 사셨는데, 다만 질박함과 검소함을 바랄 뿐이어서 이엉을 자르지도 않았고 흙으로 된 계단은 석 자의 높이 밖에 안되었다.



한편 이영식교수(인제대 역사고고학)의 가야사 여행에 따르면 거북아거북아 머리를 내밀어라 가 사실은 각색돠었다는 이야기를 합니다. 그의 이야기인 즉 ...구지가는 가락 9촌의 촌장들이 불렀습니다. 따라서 원래의 구지가는 구간사회의 굿판에서 불러지던 기원의 노래였습니다. 그러나 현재의 구지가는 '머리를 내어라' 했기에 나타난 (우두)머리가 수로왕이었다고 전합니다. 머리 수(首)에 나타날 로(露)가 이름이 되었던 거지요. 지금 우리가 아는 구지가는 구간사회의 노래가 아니고, 가락국의 성립과 수로왕의 등장을 신성하게 꾸몄던 노래입니다. 청동기시대의 구간사회에서 풍요를 기원하던 구지가가 철기시대 가락국의 건국자를 맞아들이는 노래로 각색되었던 겁니다.



수로왕이 철기문화를 가지고 청동기문화의 가락 9촌 사회를 통합해 가락국을 세우고 보니 신성화의 도구가 필요하게 되었습니다. 가락국 '용비어천가'의 제작입니다. 마침 알맞은 소재가 있었습니다. 선주민의 구간사회인들이 신성시하던 구지봉과 구지가가 있었습니다. '됐다! 이 장소에, 이 노래에, 나의 출현을 담아보자'. 그래서 바다 거북이를 괴롭히며 해신에게 해산물의 풍요를 기원하던 노래가, 하늘에서 건국자를 내려주는 이상한 모양이 되었다...는 겁니다


김해 중심으로 낙동강 유역 가야, 일명 가락국(駕洛國)
태조이자 김해 김씨의 시조가 되는 김수로왕(金首露王)
그 일곱왕자가 와서 수도 후 모두 성불하였다는 칠불사.

『삼국유사, 가락국기』『동국여지승람 하동지』등에 의하면
수로왕은 서기 42년에 태어 났으며 인도 갠지스강 상류지방에
기원전 5세기 태양왕조 아유다국 공주 허황옥을 왕비로 맞이했다.

10남 2녀 중 큰 아들 거등(巨登)은 왕위를 계승했고
차남 석(錫) 왕자와 삼남 명(明) 왕자는 모후의 성씨를 따라
김해 허(許)씨의 시조가 되었으며 나머지 일곱왕자는 출가한다.

허황옥의 오빠인 인도스님 장유보옥 선사를 따라
처음에는 가야산에서 3년간 수도하다가 의령 수도산,
사천 와룡산 등를 거쳐 서기 101년 지리산 반야봉 아래
운상원을 짓고 정진, 수로왕 62년(서기103년)에 모두 생불

일곱 왕자의 성불 소식을 들은 수로왕은 크게 기뻐하여
국력을 기울여 큰 절을 짓고 칠불사(七佛寺)라 불렀는데
고구려 소수림왕 2년(서기372년) 보다 약 270년 앞선 기록.

고구려,신라,백제 자존심에 기인한 불교 북방전래설
당시 항해술로 보면 인도로부터 불교가 최초로 유입

『372년 불교 북방전래설』은 중국을 통해 전해진 것
가락국이 바다를 통해 인도로부터 불교를 최초 유입.

당시 신흥국 가야의 권력구조 개편에 불교는 큰 영향.
가야는 북방 기마민족이면서 탁월한 제철 기술을 보유
해상세력이던 토착민들은 가야에 밀려 일본으로 떠난다.

'일본 신천지를 개척하려 떠난 가야 해상세력들.'

그 공백을 메우려 가야가 끌어들인 허황옥 해상세력
그 세력과의 지분 정리로 김수로왕 측이 찾이한 왕위.
허황옥 측은 왕자 두사람의 성을 바꿔 내치를 담당한듯.

일곱 왕자가 모두 불문에 귀의한 사실은
허황옥 측과 동맹을 굳게 하려는 결단인듯.

당시 쇠를 다루는 제철기술 집단이었던 김씨.
삼국유사에 보면 가야에서 도망쳐 온., 김알지.
김수로 왕이 정병을 내보내 뒤쫒기까지 한다.

〈삼국사기〉에 다음과 같은 기록.

탈해왕 9년 금성(金城) 서쪽 시림(始林)에서
닭 울음소리가 나서 보니 나뭇가지에 걸린 금궤
궤에서 빛이 쏟아져나오며, 그 밑에 울고있는 흰닭

왕이 궤를 열자 수려한 사내아이가 있어 거두어 키웠다.
이때부터 시림을 계림(鷄林)이라 하고 이를 국호로 삼았다.

금궤에서 태어나 성을 김(金)이라 했고,
총명하고 지략이 많아 '알지'라고 불렀다.

〈삼국유사〉의 〈알지신화〉도 유사한 기록
〈삼국사기〉와 비슷하지만, '알지'는 '아기'를 뜻

이 설화는 박·석 양씨보다 먼저 경주에 정착했으나,
정치적으로는 그후에야 비중이 커지게 된 김씨 부족
그들의 토템인 닭과 조상을 연계하여 만든 설화인듯.

그 7대손 미추이사금 때부터 신라 왕족에 김씨가 등장.

김알지는 권력구도에서 밀린 김수로왕 측근 중 하나인듯.
허황옥 세력과 맞서다가 권력다툼에 실패후 신라로 도망친듯.
당시 제철기술 만 가지고 있으면 어디를 가더라도 지도자 위치.

당시 왕으로 군림하면서 경주 김씨 시조가 된 김알지.
장유화상은 일곱왕자의 일거수 일투족을 감시한 책임자.
가야는 제철 집단이 나라를 다스렸던 한반도 최초 문명국.

우리나라는 독도 영토권을 놓고 일본과 맞서왔다.
우리나라 남쪽을 다스렸다는 일본의 임나일본부설
그러나, 그 설은 일본의 뿌리가 가야국이었음을 대변.

삼국지 위지동이전의 "왜인" 편에 나오는 기록.

"徒郡至倭 循海岸水行 歷韓國 乍南乍東 到其北岸
拘邪韓國七千餘里 始渡一海 千餘里至對海國"

"대방군에서 왜로 가는 데는 해안에서 순(循)하여 수행(水行)하고,
한국을 력(歷)해서 혹은(乍) 남(南)하고, 혹은 동(東)하여 그 북쪽 해안
구야한국에 도착하는 칠천여 리. 이렇게 해서 천여리 바다 넘어 대해국"

여기서 '사남사동(乍南乍東)'이란

"잠시 남쪽으로 갔다가 이내 동쪽으로 방향을 꺾는 행로"

대방군에서 왜로 가려면 바닷가를 따라 한반도를 거치고
잠시 남쪽으로 갔다가 잠시 동쪽으로 가면 그 북쪽 해안인
'가라나라'에 다다르게 되며, 여기까지가 7천여 리 거리이다.

왜국에서 대해를 건너 북쪽 해안에 있다는 가락국,
왜국과 경계를 맞대었던, 변진의 한 갈래인 독로국.

................독로국[瀆盧國].................
변한 12소국 중 하나로 부산 동래지역에 있던 소국.
〈삼국지〉 위지동이전 변진조(弁辰條)에 있는 기록.

"독로국은 왜와 경계를 접하고 있다"고 한 것으로 보아
변진지역에서 가장 남단에 위치한 소국임을 알 수 있다.

〈삼국사기〉에 의하면 현재 동래 지역은 옛 거칠산국
거칠산국(居柒山國)은 독로국과 동일한 곳으로 보여진다.

일찍이 경주의 사로국에 복속된 것으로 추정되며,
거칠산군(居漆山郡)이 되었다가 경덕왕 때 동래군
현재 동래에는 복천동 고분군과 함께 오륜대·연산동·
반여동 등지에는 많은 옛 가야 고분군이 산재해 있다.

다만, 무슨 이유에인지 그것을 표시할 수 없었던듯.

김해 구지봉에 올라가 보면 김해는 한 나라의 서울로는 좁은 땅,
가야가 번성했을 시절 낙동강은 큰 배가 육지 깊숙이 들어왔던 곳.
강 상류의 울창한 숲이 베어 없어지면서 배를 만들 조건이 사라진듯.

'당시 고조선의 멸망과 잇따른 북방의 정치적 격변.'

한반도 남부지방으로 이동한 유민 집단들이 소국을 형성
경주를 중심으로 급량·모량·사량·본피·한지·습비 등
6족의 후예들이 사로국을 형성, 양산촌·고허촌 진지촌·대수촌·
가리촌·고야촌 6개 마을을 이루었는데 훗날 신라의 모체가 된다.

'칠불사 가는 길 일주문 앞 주차장은 해발 700m.'

쌍계사에서 북쪽 20리 올라간 반야봉 중턱의 사찰.
토끼봉에서 좀 더 가깝고 반야봉에서 떨어진 위치.
칠불사와 연곡사의 가운데 지점이 불무장등 통꼭봉.

허황후 오빠이자 아유타국 승려 보옥선사(장유화상)
김수로왕의 7 아들과 함께 가야산에서 3년간 수도생활.

그후 수도산과 와룡산을 거쳐 지리산에 운상원을 짓고
2년간 수도를 하던 수로왕 62년, 신라 파사왕 24년(103년)
7왕자와 외삼촌 보옥선사는 보름달을 보며 즉흥시를 읊었다.

땅바닥에 동그라미를 그리거나,
깊은 생각에 잠긴 왕자도 있었다.

이 때 철커덩 하는 쇳소리가 크게 울렸다.
보옥선사가 별안간 내려친 지팡이 소리였다.
순간 일곱 왕자는 진리를 깨치고 부처가 된다.

일곱 왕자가 부처가 되었다는 소식을 듣고
달려온 김수로왕은 운상원 터에 절을 짓고,
이곳에로 칠불암이란 이름을 붙였다고 한다.

'삼신동 칠불암은 옛 운상원(진금륜) 터.'

보옥선사가 살며 옥피리를 즐겨 불렀다는 곳.
칠불사로 가는 도로 차창가 풍경은 퍽 이국적.
남방불교가 전래된 흔적이 물씬 풍기는 칠불사.

신라 옥보고가 50년 동안 거문고를 공부했다는 운상원.
삼국유사 제 4절 헌강왕 편에 다음과 같은 기록이 있다.

경주 성 안에는 초가집을 볼 수 없고
기와집이 연이어 섰으며 밤낮 노래소리.

통일신라는 차츰 사치와 유흥에 빠져
온 국민들이 노래와 춤으로 보내었다.

옥보고는 자신의 음악이 잘못 이용되자
경주를 떠나 지리산 운상원으로 들어갔다.
경주 왕실과 귀족들은 보물을 잃어버린 듯.

그래서 옥보고를 다시 불러내려 했으나
어디로 갔는지 종적조차 찾을 수 없었다.

운상원까지 옥보고를 따라나선 제자 귀금.
귀금이 옥보고의 음악을 전수받았다는 소문.

왕은 윤흥을 남원태수로 임명
귀금에게 거문고를 배우라 한다.

윤흥은 남원에 부임하는 즉시
음악에 소질있는 청장과 안장을 뽑아
귀금에게 거문고를 배워오라고 명령한다.

두 소년은 수년간 운상원에 머물러
거문고를 배운 후 태수에게 보고했다.

"귀금이 심오한 비곡은 가르쳐 주지 않더이다."

윤흥 태수는 산해진미로 푸짐한 이바지 음식을 마련하고
귀금을 찾아가 자기 부인이 직접 술을 따라 권하게 하고
자기 자신은 귀금에게 큰 절을 올리며 간곡하게 부탁한다.

"군왕이 나에게 남원태수를 명하심은
오직 선생의 비곡을 배워오라 함이거늘
3년이 넘도록 그 묘기를 얻지 못하였으니
제가 무슨 얼굴로 감히 군왕을 대하겠습니까?

듣자하니 숨겨놓은 곡조가 있다하니
엎드려 청컨대 부디 가르쳐 주십시오."

귀금은 태수에게 감동되어 비곡을 전수
안장은 이를 배워 아들 극종에게 전하고
극종은 따로 7곡을 지어 후세에 전하였다.

지리산에서 최초의 암자라고 전해져 내려오는 칠불사.
1948년 여순 반란군 토벌 때 불타 모두 소실된 칠불사.
1952년 재건해 고색창연함을 볼 수 없다는 점이 아쉽다.

'신라 담공선사가 지었다는 아자방은 복원.'

경남 하동군 화개면 범왕리 칠불사는 가야국 시대의 사찰.
삼국시대 초기 김해 낙동강 유역의 가야(伽倻), 일명 가락국

김해 김씨 시조 김수로왕의 일곱왕자가 성불하였다는 사찰.
삼국유사, 가락국기와 동국여지승람 하동지 기록에 의하면
서기 42년에 태어난 김수로왕은 허황후와 사이에 10남 2녀

허황후는 기원전 5세기 창건한 이유다국의 공주,

인도 갠지스강 상류지방 태양왕조의 공주 허황옥(許黃玉)
김수로왕 큰 아들 거등(巨登)은 가락국의 왕위를 계승했고

성불한 후에는 금왕광불(金王光佛),
금왕당불(金王幢佛), 금왕상불(金王相佛),
금왕행불(金王行佛), 금왕향불(金王香佛),
금왕성불(金王性佛), 금왕공불(金王空佛).

칠불사의 창건설화는 여기서 시작된다.

일곱 왕자가 성불했다는 소식을 전해들은 김수로왕과 왕비
기쁜 마음에 일곱 왕자를 만나려고 지리산 운상원을 찾았다.

일곱 왕자의 스승이자 외삼촌인 보옥선사
불법 계율에 따라 서로 대면시키지 않았다.
대신 '경내 연못을 지켜보라'고 일러주었다.

일곱 왕자를 직접 만날 수 없다는 아쉬움 컸지만
어쩔 수 없이 왕과 왕비는 연못을 지켜만 보았다.
얼마후 연못에 비친 성불한 7 왕자의 찬란한 모습

일곱 왕자의 성불을 직접 목격한 김수로왕.
크게 기뻐하여 국력을 기울여서 사찰을 짓고
일곱 부처가 탄생한 곳이라 해서 칠불사(七佛寺)

우리나라에 불교가 처음 전해졌다는
고구려 소수림왕 2년(서기372년) 보다
칠불사 사찰 역사는 약 270 여년 앞섰다.

2001년 380만 관객을 동원한‘달마야 놀자’.

김해 신어산(神魚山) 중턱 천년고찰 은하사(銀河寺)
특히 신어산 정상 가득한 기암괴석은 나한상을 닮았고,
그 거대한 나한상들이 은하사와 어울려 절경을 연출한다.

신라에서 고려시대에 이르기까지 고승과 석학들을 배출.
그 때문에 기도하는 불자가 옛부터 인산인해를 이루던 곳.
42년 김수로왕이 사찰을 창건 허황후 오빠 장유화상이 발원.

은하사는 임진왜란 때 불타고 인조 22년(1644년) 복원
사찰 이름을 서림사로 지칭했다가 200년전 다시 은하사.
범어사 말사인 은하사 본존불은 관세음보살이란 점도 특징.

우리나라 불교의 온갖 전설을 간직한 신어산,
그 산에서 둥지 속 새알처럼 자리잡은 은하사.

후한 광무 건무 18년(42년) 김수로왕이 사찰을 창건하였고
인도에서 온 허황후가 오빠 장유화상과 더불어 천하태평 기도
이곳 산 이름을 금강산이라 명명하고 사찰을 금강사라 칭했다.

이곳에서 장유화상은 가야국과 만 백성을 위해 수행정진
일곱왕자를 출가하게 해 마침내 칠불로 탄생하도록 했고
국사로서 수행정진에 전념해 성불을 이루었다고 전해온다.

이후 신라 고려 고승대덕과 석학들이 이곳에서 수행 정진
신어산 정상의 우뚝한 바위들은 모두가 나한상이라 하여
이곳을 나한도량으로 삼아 기도하는 불자들로 인산인해

특히, 김수로왕이 서기 43년 도읍을 정하며
이곳을 16나한을 모실만한 곳이라고 했듯이
현재 은하사 나한전에 모시고 있는 16 나한.

임진왜란때 전소된 사찰을 인조 22년 (1644년) 복원
'서림사'라 개명하였고 별칭으로 '동림사'라고 했다.
현재, 은하사 사찰 이름은 약 200년전 중수할 때 명명.

그렇다면, 한반도 불교는 가야에서 처음 유래된 남방불교
중국보다 먼저 바다를 건너 남방불교가 들어온 것이 된다.

김해지역에 내려오는 설화나 전설을 통해 보면
4세기 후반 이전에 가야지역에 불교가 들어온듯.

고구려 백제 신라같은 중국불교와 색다른 가야불교.
불국(佛國)에서 허왕후와 장유화상에 의해 직접 전래
그러므로 가야불교는 약 2000년 역사를 자랑할 수 있다.

그당시 인도는 소승불교이므로 가야불교도 소승불교.
가야에는 불교를 전해준 서역을 향한 서향 절이 많다.

중국불교는 동쪽으로 전파되며 해뜨는 동향을 중시
남방불교는 열대 무더위를 피하기 위해 서향을 중시.

48년 가야불교 흔적은 바다 풍랑을 잠재우기 위한 파사석탑.
야후타국의 부왕이 공주인 허왕옥에게 하사했다는 파사석탑.

이 탑은 원래 김해 호계사에 보존되었으나 1893년 폐사
김해부사가 허왕후 묘옆으로 옮겨 지금까지 보관되고 있다.

<삼국유사> 기록에 의하면 이 탑의 모양도 기묘하지만,
돌이 약간 불은 빛을 띄고 있으며 그 성질이 연하므로
"이 나라 물건이 아니라"고 하였다는 내용이 적혀 있다.

닭벼슬 피를 묻히면 다른 돌은 굳어지지만
이 파사석탑은 그렇치 않았다고 소개하였다.

허황후는 그의 오빠 허보옥과 함께 김해로 왔는데,
그가 바로 우리나라 최초의 인도승려 인 장유 화상.

인근 장유라는 지명도 여기서 비롯되었고,
장유계곡 위 장유사에 장유화상의 사리탑

중국 불교는 5세기 경 달마대사 이후로 부흥.
중국에 불교가 처음 전래된 때는 기원후 68년.

이 때 인도승 두 분이 불경을 가지고 왔으며,
그들 무덤은 중국불교 성지 낙양 백마사 입구

장유는 중국으로 치면 바로 백마사 인도승에 해당.
김해 장유면 명월산(明月山)계곡 흥국사에 탑신 돌.

이것을 사왕석(巳王石)이라 하는데,
두 마리의 뱀이 부처를 호위하는 모습
우리나라 어느 곳에서도 볼 수 없는 형태.

인도에는 뱀이 호위하는 불상이 많이 남아 있다.
김해지역 곳곳에 가야불교와 관련된 지명과 사찰
먼저 장유란 지명도 장유화상이 도래하였음을 증명

'장유 불모산 지명도 장유화상 흔적인듯..'

칠불사는 남방불교에서 유래된 가야사찰.
삼국사기 기록에 의하면 신라 경덕왕 때
사찬(벼슬이름) 공영의 아들 옥보고(玉寶高)

지리산 운상원에 들어가 50년간 거문고를 연구하여
신곡 30곡을 지어 명득(命得)에 전했고 그것은 뒷날
이 곳에서 왕산악 이후의 금법(琴法)을 정리하게 된다.

우륵의 가야금과 더불어 현악기의 쌍벽을 이룬 거문고.
칠불암을 찾아온 생육신 남효온의 1487년 이곳의 기록
당시 운상원(雲上院)은 일명 옥보대(玉寶臺)라 불리웠다.

동쪽 큰 바위에 3존불,그 앞에 바위 각면마다 새겨진 4구의 여래상.
하여, 칠불암이라 하고, 삼존상의 본존(本尊) 구도가 특히 돋보인다.

좌우 보살 입상은 한쪽 어깨가 솟았고,
각각 반대편 다리에 힘을 뺀 삼굴의 자세.
허황후가 인도의 공주였음을 입증하는 불상.

이러한 불상은 중국 7세기 후반에서 8 세기 초기의 형태.
7 세기 후반 당나라 법승들을 통해 통일 신라시대로 전파.
한반도에 남방불교가 전래된 경로를 알려주는 중요한 유적.

칠불사가 통일 신라시대 전후의 사찰 임을 알게 해준다.
아울러 <칠불사와 허왕후> 전설을 뒷받침 해주는 유적지.
성불한 7 아들 어머니 허왕후는 일명 마야 부인이라 한다.

가락국 왕후이자 성불한 7 아들 부처의 어머니.
허왕후는 천왕성모 또는 문수보살로도 비견된다.
허왕후는 지리산 문수보살 신앙의 상징적인 인물.

가락국 김수로왕 허왕후는 일곱 왕자가 성불하여 속세와 인연을 끊고
세상에 나오지 않게 되자 왕자들을 만나 보기 위해 지리산으로 찾아갔다.
그러나, 불법이 엄하여 허왕후 조차 7왕자가 있는 선원에 들어갈 수 없었다.

여러 날을 선원 밖에서 안타깝게 기다리던 허왕후는
참다 못해 성불한 아들들의 이름을 차례로 불렀지만..

"우리는 이미 성불하여 속인을 만날 수 없으니 돌아가세요"

허왕후는 아들들의 음성만 들어도 반가웠으나,
얼굴 한 번만이라도 보고 싶다고 간청하였는데..

"그러면 선원 앞 연못가로 오세요."

허왕후가 연못 주변을 아무리 살펴봐도 보이지 않는 7 아들의 모습.
너무 상심해 발길을 돌리려다 연못 속을 들여다보니 합장한 7 왕자.
감동한 것도 잠깐, 다시 사라진 7 아들의 모습은 나타나지 않았다.

그후로부터 이 연못은 <영지>,
수로왕이 머물던 곳은 <범왕촌>
법왕촌은 현재 범왕리로 불리운다.

허왕후가 머물렀던 곳은 대비촌.
지금은 대비리로 바뀌어 불리운다.
대비리는 쌍계사 아래에 있는 마을.

마천의 벽송사, 남원의 실상사,
유평리의 대원사, 구례 화엄사
천은사 등등 지리산자락 사찰들

그 사찰에 있는 보물 연대를 보면
불교문화는 통일신라 시대가 전성기.

그러나, 칠불암은 그 규모를 떠나
지리산 어느 사찰들보다 유서 깊다.
하여, 허황후와 가락국 유래를 소개.

천지개벽 아주 먼 옛날 지금 한강 북쪽은 단군의 고조선
졸본부여 땅에 고주몽(高朱蒙)이 고구려(高句麗)를 창건.
한강 남쪽 경기 충청 전라도에 걸쳐 五十국을 다스린 마한.

낙동강 동쪽 十二國은 진한(辰韓)
낙동강 서남에 十二國은 변한(弁韓)

훗날 진한 영역은 신라(新羅)로,
마한 영역은 백제(百濟)로 흡수.

이때 변한은 나라 이름, 왕과 신하 제도도 없었다.
김해 김씨의 시조인 김수로 왕이 가락국의 초대 왕
허황후는 인도에서 온 공주이자 김수로왕의 부인이다.

허황후는 48년(유리왕 25) 배타고 가야에 와서 왕비가 된다.
태자 '등거공'등 10 아들, 중 2 아들은 어머니 성을 따랐다.

가락국 10 대 구형왕은 양왕이라고도 한다.
신라 법흥왕(532년)에게 나라를 넘겨준 왕이다.
신라로부터 양왕 칭호를 받고 왕에 준하는 예우.

가락국은 명맥이 끊긴 후에도 신라와 밀접한 관계.

통일신라는 가락국과 합병 후 불교의 전성기를 맞는다.
칠불암 가까운 쌍계사 화엄사 고찰들이 그 사실을 입증.

후세 사람들이 비겁한 왕이라고도 하는 양왕.
하지만, 칠선계곡 국골에 쌓았다는 추성산성.
양왕이 백제와 항전했다는 구전도 전해져온다.

하여, 김수로왕 후손 및 강청리 주민들
百巫洞' 보다 무기 武자 百巫洞'을 주장.

'칠불암과 허황후' 전설은 그 일대 지명에 영향.
행정 지명에 영향을 줄 만큼 소중한 무형 문화재 .
신라는 가락국과 합병 후 오랫동안 상호 우호 관계

훗날, '가락국 구형왕의 증손자' 김유신 장군
신라 삼국통일에 중추적인 역활을 한 인물이다..

그 유래와 전설 내용들은 칠불사가 고찰이었음을 알게 한다.

<장유 보옥선사>와 김수로 왕의 7 왕자...8 명.
서기 101년 지리산 운상원에 들어와 3년간 수도

수로왕 62년(서기 103년) 음력 8월 15일 대보름 밤,
달이 중천에 떠 삼라만상을 두루 비추고 있을 무렵.

가락국 7 왕자 慧眞, 覺初, 智鑑, 等演, 柱淳, 淨英, 戒英.
보옥선사는 그들과 선문답을 펴며 달빛을 즐기고 있었다.

왕자들은 외삼촌 보옥선사와 함께 둥근 달을 보며 즉흥시.
"가을이 되니 바람이 서늘 하고 보름이 되니 달이 둥글도다."
"푸른 하늘, 삼경 달이 밝아 심장과 쓸개까지 훤히 비추는구나."

또 다른 한 왕자는 땅위에 가만히 동그라미를 그리고는.. 지웠다.
그 밖의 네 왕자는 말 없이 고개를 푹 숙이고 걸어 가는데 이 때에..
철거덩 하는 쇳소리가 크게 울리며 현묘한 진리를 깨쳐 7 왕자 성불.

아들을 출가시킨 뒤 아들이 보고 싶은 어머니 마음.
가락국 수도 김해에서 배타고 남해 거쳐 섬진강 도착.
칠불암까지 찾아 왔으나 장유 보옥선사가 상봉을 만류.

그 후 아들을 만나려 운상원(雲上院)을 찾은 허황후.
그때마다 보옥선사는 여동생인 왕비(王妃)를 꾸짖었다.

그러던 어느 날, 허황후는 운상원을 다시 찾았는데
보옥선사는 미소를 지으며 7왕자 아들과 상봉을 허락.

"네 아들들이 모두 成佛했으니 오늘은 만나봐도 좋다."

이 때 공중에서 '연못을 보면 만날 수 있으리라.'는 부처님 계시.
그곳 연못을 들여다 보니 황금 빛 가사를 걸친 일곱 아들의 성불.
하늘로 올라가는 모습이 보였다 하여 그 영지를.. 천비연(天飛淵).

허왕후가 아들을 만나는 것을 막기 위해 보옥선사가 머물던 범왕리.
범왕리(梵王里)... 보옥선사는 인도의 왕자 였으므로 그렇게 불리운다.
지금은 凡旺里라 하고, 허왕후가 머물던 곳은.. 정금리 대비동(大妃洞).
대비암(大妃庵) 있는 범왕 고개 너머엔 삼정승이 기다린, 삼정리(三政里).

아자방과 문수동자.

아자방은 중앙에 십자형 통로가 있고
둘레에 높다란 4 개의 좌선방(坐禪房)
아(亞)자 형태 구조라 아자방(亞字房).

이중 온돌은 통로나 높은 방 모두 일정한 온도 유지.
일곱 짐 장작을 3 아궁이에 지피면 49일 간 따듯하다.
신라 지마왕 8년(서기 119) 또는 효공왕(897~911) 축조.

'아자방을 축조한 사람은 담공선사(曇空禪師).'

아자방의 전설에는 이조시대 불교탄압 흔적이 서려있다.
하동(河東)땅에 암행 순시차 온 어사(御史) 박문수(朴文秀).
조선 후기의 문신. 1723년(경종 3) 증광문과에 병과로 급제.

'1727년 사서에 등용된 영남 소론파 암행어사 박문수.'

1730년 충청 암행어사로 부정한 관리를 척결해 백성의 구제.
1753년 우참판에 이어 영의정에 올라 4색의 인재를 고루 등용.
그가 암행어사 시절 행적을 보면 이조의 불교탄압을 알수 있다.

화개동천 1백여 사찰을 폐사할 구실을 찾아 칠불암 방문.
스님들 그림자조차 보이지 않아 괴이쩍게 생각하여 두리번.
아자방을 발견한 박문수는 그 곳으로 가서 문을 열어 젖혔다.

이때 한 동자가 조용히 하라며 입술에 손가락을 대고 제재.
그런데 이미 열려진 방안에는 장좌불와(長坐不臥)에 일종식.
하루 한끼 식사하는 일종식(一種食) 점심 공양후 참선 시각.

각양각색 자세로 참선하는 스님들을 구경하던 박어사.

고개를 뒤로 젖히면서 조는 스님.
앙천성숙관(仰天星宿觀) 참선 자세.
동자 말에 박문수는 어이없어 웃는다.

박문수가 그곳 또 다른 스님을 바라보니
고개가 무릎에 닿도록 떨구며 조는 모습.
지하망명관(地下亡冥觀)이라는 동자의 설명.

몸을 좌우로 흔들며 조는 자세는 춘풍양류관(春風楊柳觀),
방귀소리 내는 것을 보고 타파칠통관(타파칠통관)이라 설명.
어느 한 가지도 참선자세가 아닌듯 하여 어이가 없던 박어사.

'동자승에게 법문만 잔뜩 듣고 이곳을 떠난 박문수.'

그로부터 5일후 박문수는 하동 현감과 함께 스님들 신통력을 시험.
하동 관아에서는 칠불암 스님들은 목마타고 관아에 오라는 출두통지.
목마를 타고 달리지 못하면 절을 폐쇄, 목마로 달리면 절에 양식 지급.

스님들은 모두 걱정 하며 출두 당일에 관아 마당에 모였지만
서로가 얼굴을 마주보며 어찌할 바 모르는 순간, 나타난 동자.

안장도 없는 목마에 올라타고 목마의 엉덩이를 힘껏 내리치자
목마는 소리를 크게 질러대며 동헌 앞 마당을 몇 바퀴나 돌았다.

놀란 박 문수는 칠불암 스님들을 극진히 대우해 돌려 보내고
아자방에 두꺼운 장판을 다시 깔아 주었다는 전설이 전해온다.

"스님들 어떻게 하든지.. 수도에 전념하셔야 됩니다."

이날 동자승은 그 말을 남기고 홀연이 사라져 버렸다.
그때서야 스님들은 동자가 문수보살의 현신 임을 알고
문수동자가 사라진 곳에 동자부도를 세워 기념했다고 한다.

이 '동자부도'는 일주문 아래
초의선사 다신탑비 아래 있다.

백암 성총스님과 무가당 스님의 부도 오른쪽 모서리 방향
5m 거리의 대숲에 비신 없는 대석은..옛날의 칠불암 사적비.

'그 높이가 6척이고.. 넓이가 4척 이었다는.. 철비(鐵碑)'.
승노(僧奴)들의 후손들은 선조(先祖) 이름이 적혀 있다 하여
고려 말 왜적의 침입 때 비신을 뽑아 묻어 버렸다고 전해진다.

칠불사 사적과 칠불의 성불, 불교의 전래에 대한.. 귀중한 유적.
일제 때 일본인 불교 학자들이 철비의 행방을 추적했으나 헛걸음.
해방 후 한국 사학자인 이병도, 권상로 등이 애썼지만, 행방이 묘연.


'반란의 역사' 속에.. 칠불암 종소리.

1951年 1月 눈 내리던 어느 날에, 태고의 정적을 헤집고
요란한 포성이 지리산을 흔들며 골바람이 일고 산을 울렸다.
뒤따라 칠불암에서 불길이 솟아 보광전(대웅전) 벽이 흔들렸다.

불길 속 종루(지금의 원음각)에서
은은한 종소리가 크게 울려 퍼졌다.

골짜기에 내리는 눈은 무척 조용한데
그날따라 눈보라는 유난히도 스산했다.

아자방 구들을 감싼 벽안당 건물이 무너졌다.
설선당은 불길에 휩싸인 채 목탁소리만 울렸다.
그 목탁 소리는 서까래가 타는 소리였던 것이다.

종루에서는 끊기었던 종소리가 다시 울렸다.
종루가 불타 무너지며 울리는 종소리였던 것.
열흘 남짓 불타던 칠불암은 하얀 재로 변했다.

칠불암은 잿더미로 변해 골바람에 날리고 있었다.
그후 은은히 울려 퍼지던 종소리는 멈추고 말았다.
칠불암을 방화한 군인들은 여순 반란군에 의해 몰살.

6. 25 동란과 여순 반란사건.
토벌대와 여순 반란군의 전투.

1600 년전 칠불암의 '약사여래 석조상'
이때 아자방과 함께 불타 사라져버렸다.

칠불암이 불길에 휩싸였을 때
종루에서 울려 퍼지던 '종소리'.

약사여래 석상이 불탔기 때문에
일어났던 이적(異蹟)이라는 풍문.

중국 보물을 지키기 위한 모택동의 일화는 유명하다.
장개석이 중국 보물을 군함 여러 척에 싣고 항해할 때
모택동 함대에게 포위당해 격침당할 위기에 놓여 있었다.

그러나, 보물을 실은 군함들은 무사히 대만에 도착했다.
모택동이 군함으로 대만까지 호위하라 명령 내렸기 때문.
잘못하면 중국의 보물이 바다 속에 빠질까 우려한 모택동.

중국 본토에 있던, 대만에 있던, 중국의 보물이라는 생각.
대만과 중국은 언젠가 반드시 합쳐질 것이란 모택동의 생각.
전쟁 중에도 중국의 보물을 지킨 모택동의 판단은 본받을 점.

대만은 작은 섬나라지만 그 보물이 있어 큰 나라.
보물의 가치를 금액으로 환산하면 대륙을 살 정도.

2차 세계대전 중 유럽 강대국들은 전쟁을 하면서도
그 조상이 쌓아올린 천년의 문화유산을 서로 지켰다.
연합군은 일본을 폐허로 만들면서도 역사유적들을 보호.

이 승만 대통령이나 군의 지휘관들이 좀더 현명했더라면
대대로 물려 줄 문화유산을 불사르는 작전방식은 없었을 듯.

자칫 파묻히고 버려지기도 쉬운..전설을 품은 현장들.
칠불암 전설은 배달민족이 겪었던.. 한과 역사가 담긴 곳.
그 베일 속에 가려진 수수께끼를 풀 수 있는 곳이기도 하다.
칠불암은 가락국 시조 김수로왕의 부인에 관한 전설이 있는 곳.
허황옥의 인도에서 가야까지
뿌리 다른 한쪽을 찾아서…


법정 스님 말씀 가운데




‘수본진심제일정진 · 守本眞心第一精眞’이란 말씀이 있습니다. 그리고

‘부모미생전본래면목 · 父母未生前本來面目’이란 말씀도 있습니다.




‘수본진심제일정진’ : 으뜸가는 정진은 ‘참마음을 지키는 것’이란 말입니다.

다른 것이 섞이지 않은 참마음자리.

‘부모미생전본래면목’: 이 말씀은 선가 화두 가운데 하나로

‘부모 몸 받기 전 본디 모습은 무엇인가’,

이 화두 역시 뿌리 찾기, 제 모습을 찾아가는 여정입니다.




평생을 바쳐서 뿌리를 찾기 위해 몸소 퍼즐을 맞춰 온 세계를 두루 다니며 40여년을 바쳐온 고고학자. 김병모(金秉模)박사가 평생 연구를 집대성해 책 한 권을 엮어 작년 봄에 내놨습니다. <허황옥 루트 · 인도에서 가야까지>가 그것입니다.




서울대 고고인류학과를 나온 金海 金氏 김병모 박사는 대학생 시절, 김해 김씨 시조 수로왕릉을 찾았다가 수로왕비 허황후릉에서 파사석탑·婆娑石塔이야기를 듣고 수로왕비는 과연 인도 여자인가 궁금해 하면서 본인 얼굴이 까맣다는 것과 연결시켜 ‘임금님 국제결혼’을 캐기 시작합니다. 그러기를 40년. 평생을 그 뿌리 ‘쌍어’ 사상에 얽힌 퍼즐을 목숨 걸고 발로

뛰면서 찾아 맞춰왔습니다.




결국 그는 지금은 찾아볼 수 없는 아유타국이 어디인지, 끊임없는 역사로 대탐험을 펼쳐 끈질기게 추적, 인도 옛 지도를 살펴 아유타국이 인도 남동쪽 아요디아로 남아 있음을 확인하고, 아요디아국이 1세기에 북방 월지족(月氏族) 지배를 받으면서 지배층은 쫓겨나 중국 서남 고원지대를 거쳐 사천지방인 촉 · 蜀나라에 정착한 것으로 봤습니다. 더구나 허황후 능비에 ‘보주태후 · 普州太后 허씨릉’이라 쓰인 데서 허황후가 보주 · 普州란 곳과 연관이 있다고 보고 그 행적을 따라가, 보주가 사천성 안악현 · 安岳縣임을 알아냈습니다. 그곳에서 서기 48년 전해에 반란을 일으켜 다시 강제 이주를 당했는데, 그 반란을 주모한 이들 가성 · 家姓이 허씨라는 것도 후대 기록에서 확인합니다. 이렇게 역사궤적을 확인하는 연구결과를 보고받은 한국 유전체학회는 허황후 후손으로 추정되는 왕족 유골에서 북방계가 아닌 인도 남방계 DNA를 추출해 냅니다.




까무잡잡한 인도 소녀 허황옥 · 許黃玉 ! 오빠와 더불어 장강 · 長江을 타고 삼협 · 三峽을 거쳐 황해로 나와 김해 앞바다에 이른 보트 피플이었습니다. 이들이 옮겨 다닌 지역을 꿰는 문화 공통분모로 김박사는 물고기 두 마리가 마주보고 있는 쌍어 · 雙魚신앙에서 찾았습니다.

이 책을 권해드리는 까닭은 두 가지입니다. 하나는 40여 년 짧지 않은 세월을 뿌리 찾아 전세계를 돌며 퍼즐을 맞춰낸 김병모박사처럼 ‘어서 부지런히 정진해서 정견 · 正見 (바르고 능숙한 이해)을 얻어야 하겠구나.’ 하는 느낌이 퍼뜩 들었기 때문입니다.

다른 하나는 우리나라에 불교가 372년 (고구려 소수림왕 2)에 들어왔다고 알려졌지만, 그보다 3백여 년이나 앞선 48년. 또 다른 길. 가야국 시조 김수로왕과 결혼한 허황후를 통해서도 들어왔다고 보이기 때문입니다. 허황후 오라버니 장유화상·長遊和尙이 은하사 · 銀河寺라는 절을 세웠습니다. 그 은하사에는 쌍어 · 雙魚 두 쌍을 찾아볼 수 있습니다. (부처님 심장을 보호하는 물고기 한쌍, 쌍어·雙魚. 생명나무를 보호하는 물고기 한쌍 쌍어·雙魚.) 아직까지 우리나라 절에서는 김해 은하사를 비롯한 울산 개운사, 양산 통도사, 양산 개원사에서만 발견되어 주로 가야 고지에 퍼져있습니다.

언어학자 강길운 교수는 ‘가야말과 드라비다말 비교’라는 논문에서 가락 · Karak은 구 · 舊드라비아말로 물고기를 뜻하고, 가야 · Kaya는 신 · 新드라비아말로 물고기라고 밝혔답니다. ‘가야’ 나 ‘가락국’은 ‘물고기나라’라는 말이죠. 생명나무를 보호하는 두 마리 물고기 쌍어. 부처님 심장을 보호하는 두 마리 물고기 쌍어. 부처님을 외호하는 나라 가야국, 물고기나라.




왜 물고기가 생명나무, 부처님을 지키는 것일까요? 불교에는 풍경(風磬), 목어(木魚), 목탁(木鐸)이 다 물고기입니다. 물고기에 담긴 뜻이 단지 눈을 감지 않는 물고기처럼 눈을 부릅뜨고 정진하라는 뜻만이 아니었던 것 같습니다. 식물. 나무는 우리 사람들 어머니, 뿌리입니다. 식물이 없었더라면 우리는 이 세상에 올 수 없었으니까요. 어쩌면 식물이 우리 목숨 근원인 것처럼 물 또한 우리 목숨 뿌리라는 이야기도 담겨있는 게 아닐까하는 생각을 하기도 해보고, 우리가 본디 해양, 물에서 왔으니 그에 대한 어떤 이야기가 담겨 있지 않을까? 혼자 상상을 해 보기도 합니다. 이 책에는 해답이 나와 있지 않습니다. 답을 찾는 것은 아마도 우리 몫이 아닐까 싶습니다.




김 박사는 마치는 글에서 이런 말을 올렸습니다. 쌍어신을 믿고 살았던 사람들은 지중해로부터 한반도까지 넓은 지역에 살았다. 대강 기원전 7세기부터 쌍어를 신앙의 상징으로 형상화하여 살기 시작했다. 그 사람들은 아시리아, 바빌로니아, 페르시아, 스키타이, 간다라, 마가다, 운남, 가락국, 야마다이 등지에 걸치는 광범한 내륙지방을 오가면서 교역했다.




쌍어 · 雙魚는 사원 대문에서 군왕이나 신을 지켰고, 신령스런 나무를 보호하기 위해서 사막이나, 때로는 물속에서 버텨 서 있기도 했다. 끝이 보이지 않는 초원을 달리는 말 이마나 안장에도 쌍어는 수호신으로 매달려 있었고, 굴러다니는 자동차나 인력거에도 수호신으로 장식되었다. 중국에서는 여행자들 숙소나 식당, 돈을 지키는 존재로 대접받았다. 한국에서는 왕릉 대문과 부처님을 모시는 수미단에 장식되었고, 왜국에서는 여왕 옷을 장식하는 무늬로, 후세에는 재물신을 모시는 이나리 신사를 지키는 수호신으로 뚜렷하게 새겨져 있다. 한국 민속에도 오래 남아서 가게나 식당입구 안쪽에 매달린 북어 두 마리로 끈질긴 전통을 이어가고 있다.




국적과 언어가 다르고 피부색과 풍속이 다른 지구상 여러 민족들이 공통으로 믿고 있던 쌍어신앙은 경전이 남아 있지 않아서 민속신앙으로 취급되어왔다. 경전이 없기 때문에 학문으로 연구하기 힘들었다. 유대인들에게는 오병이어五餠二魚로 남아있고, 네팔 사람들에게는 부처님 심장을 보호하는 물고기로 종교 가치를 발휘하고 있다. 그뿐만이 아니라 로마 박해 시절 예수 그리스도교도들 사이 암호인 IXθYΣ 는 그리스어로 ‘그리스도는 내 주님’ 이라는 말의 약자다. 그 낱말들 머릿글자를 조합한 말이 물고기라는 뜻이다. 유대인들이 바빌로니아에서 노예생활을 하던 기간 중에 습득한 쌍어신앙이 전승과정에서 지역화된 암호다. 普州 땅 동쪽 마을 鐘地란 곳에 신령스러운 기운이 솟아 인걸이 떨치고 영명한 역사가 있다. 許氏族은 일찍부터 이곳에 살았는데 훌륭한 이야기가 오랫동안 전해진다. 그 집 뒷산은 사자와 같고 앞뜰은 비단과 같았다. 바위 아래 우물이 있어 맑은 물이 넘쳐흘러 긷는 즉시 가득 차 큰 가뭄에도 마르지 않았다. 東漢 초에 許黃玉이라는 소녀가 있어 용모가 수려하고 지략이 뛰어났다. 어릴 때부터 어른들의 이야기 듣기를 좋아했다. 일찍이 할아버지 말씀에 의하면, 『정묘년에 기근이 있어 많은 사람들이 고향을 떠나게 되었을 때, 마침 어머니(증조모)가 産氣가 있어 떠나는 사람들과 헤어져 남게 되었다. 아버지(증조부)가 구걸을 해서 살아가게 되었다. 그때 내(조부)가 이 땅에 태어났으나, 먹을 젖이 없었다. 증조부가 우물가에서 경건히 하늘의 도움을 빌자, 이윽고 우물 속에 물고기가 뛰어 올랐다. 나뭇가지를 꺾어 낚시를 드리워 하루에 두 마리씩 낚았다. (물고기를) 쪄서 죽을 만들고 유즙을 만들어서 여러 해를 지낼 수 있었다. 너의 할아버지는 이리하여 살아남았다, 후손들이 그 (우물의) 신령스러움에 감복하여 神井이라고 높여 불렀다. 그래서 許氏族이 오늘날과 같이 번창하고 위대한 씨족이 되었느니라.』

내 얼굴의 고향은 어디인가?

천손민족의 무덤인 신라 천마총은 스키타이 쿠르간형. 알타이 민족에만 있음. 즉 적석총은 북아시아에 쫙 깔려 있음. 우크라이나에서부터 키르키즈스탄, 카자흐스탄, 알타이, 몽고, 한국까지임. 즉 천손신화(天孫神話)를 믿는 지역에 적석총(쿠르간)형태의 무덤이 있음. 쿠르간 : 통나무집을 짓고 그것을 막돌로 덮은 형태의 무덤. 예 스키타이 쿠르간(카자흐스탄에 있음) 신라의 천마총과 같고, 크기는 크다. 우리 것보다 800년이 빠르다. 800년의 시간차가 있어도 그 무덤들에서 새가 나옴. 유전인자가 같다. 지배계급인 유목민과 생산계급인 농경민. 그 두 유전인자가 혼혈되어 섞임. 김수로왕릉에 있는 두 물고기가 서로 마주보고 있는 가락국에 소개된 쌍어신앙. 옛 가야국에만 있고, 인도와 네팔의 쌍어문이 있고, 아프칸, 파키스탄과 스키타이의 쌍어신앙. 또 중국 운남지방, 사천지방의 사원의 벽돌에 새겨진 쌍어문양. 레바논, 시리아, 예루살렘까지도 쌍어문양(물고기)이 퍼져있음. 일본의 후루호모도 이나리 신사의 쌍어를 통해, 규슈의 구마모토(熊本) 현에는 옛날 가락국 사람들이 옮겨와 살았음. 일본의 여자 단군(즉 무당)의 이름이 히미코(卑彌呼) (히미코 : 왜국최초통일국가인 야마다국의 여왕으로 알려짐.) 왜국여왕 히미코(卑彌呼)의 쌍어신앙 증거. 야마다국의 히미코(卑彌呼) 여왕과 그를 보좌한 남자가 수로왕의 역사에서 사라진 아들 딸인 신녀(神女) 공주와 선견(仙見) 왕자 오누이였음의 증거로 삼는다.




인도의 공주인 허황후. 중국에서도 허씨가 나오는데 지도를 보면 쌍어신앙 집단의 이민으로서 허씨는 성(姓)이 아니고 세습되는 무당 즉 종교지도자이다.




돌하르방(돌 할아버지, 수호신) : 4차 이주 해양민족. 돌하르방 관련문화가 남미 페루에서의 적도해류와 흑조(黑潮)해류를 타고 제주도로 유입. 지구의 자전으로 생긴 해류를 타고 프랭크톤이 이동. 돌하르방 = 발리의 하르방 = 필립핀의 하르방(목이 없음) = 남태평양 이스터 섬의 석상들.




쌍어문에 숨은 뜻은?




우리나라 의식주에 사용된 전통문양에는 다산, 수복, 공명, 길상, 부귀를 상징하는 여러 종류의 문양이 있는데 그중 부부화합을 상징하는 것으로는 원앙, 기러기, 쌍어, 오리, 연꽃등이 있다.




김해시의 서상동에 있는 수로왕릉 대문은 2층 누각의 모습이다. 대문을 지나 마당에 들면 수로왕의 신위를 모시고 봄 · 가을로 제향을 올리는 숭선전이 보인다. 마당 끝에 또 하나의 문이 막아선다. 지붕 하나에 문 세 개가 나란히 달려 있다. 가운데 문 위에 納陵正門 (납릉정문)이라는 편액이 붙어 있다. 납릉정문의 문설주 위에 이상한 그림이 보인다. 코끼리의 긴 코와 연꽃무늬가 새겨져 있고, 그 아래에 두 마리 물고기가 마주 보며 그 사이에 있는 탑을 보호하는 모습이다. 이것이 許왕후에 의해 가야에 전해졌다는 유명한 쌍어문(雙魚文)이다. 이러한 연유로 쌍어문은 김해시의 상징물로 되어 있다.

쌍어문(雙魚紋)은 무엇을 나타내며 어떻게 전래되었을까?




쌍어는 허황옥이 한국에 시집오기 천년 전인, 지금으로부터 거의 3천년 전 메소포타미아로부터 시작된다. 쌍어는 어떤 신을 보호하는 초자연적 능력이 있는 신어(神魚) 들이다. 메소포타미아의 신석기 시대 사람들은 물고기는 두 마리, 즉 쌍어라야 어떤 기능을 발휘한다는 생각을 했었고, 쌍어는 좌우 대칭으로 배치되어 중앙에 있는 어떤 것을 보호해야 한다는 생각을 하였다. 이러한 신어에게는 초자연적인 능력이 있다고 믿는 사상이 메소포타미아에서 생겨났고, 이 사상은 히말라야와 인도, 중국을 거쳐 한국까지 들어왔으며 일본에까지 전해지게 되었다. 이라크(메소포타미아, 아수르)와 한국(가락국)은 시간을 거슬러 올라갈수록 가까워진다.


김해 김씨 얼굴은 까무잡잡한가

언젠가 김 총각 얼굴색이 유달리 까무잡잡하기에 “여름에 얼굴이 타면 본색으로 잘 돌아오지 않는 나하고 비슷하네요”라고 했다. 그러자 “저 김해 김입니다. 혈통의 반이 인도입니다”라고 하지 않는가. 야, 진짜로 김해 김씨는 인도사람과 관련 지어 볼 만하다고 여겼다.

까무잡잡한 인도혈통에 대한 얘기를 듣다가 김유신 장군의 혈통과 김수로왕 그리고 허황후에 대한 상념이 떠올랐다.

김유신은 김해 김씨다. 그의 선조들은 가야계 인물이다. 그들은 김해쪽에서 경주로 넘어와 신라통일의 대업을 이루는 공을 세웠다. 그런 김유신의 부친과 조부의 묘소가 울산에 있다는 전설이 있다.

울산읍지에 따르면 황룡연의 서남쪽에 은월봉이 있으며, 이 산자락에 은월사(隱月祠·남구 신정동)가 있어 후손들이 제향하고 있다고 한다. 은월봉이란 태화강가에 솟아 있는 봉우리로서 달그림자가 이곳에 이르면 숨어서 비추는 듯하여 지어진 이름이다. 12개의 봉우리를 가진 지금 남산(南山)의 원래 이름이다.

그런데 은월산에 딸린 전설에 의하면, 신라의 삼국통일에서 주도적인 인물이었던 김유신 장군의 할아버지인 각간 무력(角干武力公·금관가야 제10대 구형왕의 아들)과 아버지 서현(舒玄) 공의 묘소가 있었다는 것이다.

김유신이 울주군 두동에 있던 천전리 서석대(誓石臺·천전리각석)의 화랑수련장에 갔다가, 조부와 선친의 묘소가 있는 은월봉을 찾고 월성(경주)으로 돌아 갈 때 ‘큰 말’를 타고 이곳을 지나갔다고 한다. 그래서 이 산의 또 다른 이름이 거마산(巨馬山)이고 마을 이름이 거마동이란 것이다. 김유신 관련된 울산의 유적지는 두서면의 백운산 김유신 기도소와 이미 대암댐에 잠긴 삼동면 보은천(寶隱川) 변에 축선사지가 있었다.

그러고 보면 태화강 줄기에 김유신을 기리는 절이 있고, 아버지와 할아버지의 묘가 있다는 것이 예사롭지 않아 보인다. 게다가 수구지심이랄까, 가급적 김해에 가까운 곳에 묘소를 구하느라 울산에 묘자리를 정했을 것이란 생각이 든다.

김해 김씨들이 인도의 혈통을 이어받았다는 얘기의 근원에는 몇 가지 근거가 있다.

삼국유사 기이(奇異) 권 제2의 가락국기(駕洛國記)에 보면 서기 48년 김수로왕은 하늘의 명령을 받아 김해의 망산도(望山島)에서 배필을 기다렸다. 붉은 빛의 돛과 깃발을 펼친 배가 도착하여 왕후가 될 여인과 시종해 온 신하가 내렸다.

여인이 말하길 “나는 아유타국(阿踰陀國)의 공주로서 성은 허씨(許氏)이고, 이름은 황옥(黃玉)이며 나이는 열여섯입니다”고 말한다. 왕이 허황옥을 맞아 비(妃)로 삼았다. 이 때가 신라 제3대왕 유리 이사금(儒理尼師今) 재위 25년이다.

고고학자 김병모 교수가 허 황후의 뿌리를 추적한 결과 아유타국이 인도 남동쪽 아요디아로 남아 있음을 확인하고, 1세기에 북방 월지족(月氏族)의 지배를 받으면서 그 나라의 지배층은 쫓겨나 중국 서남 고원지대를 거쳐 사천지방인 촉(蜀)나라에 정착하였다고 발표했다.

조선시대 때 세운 김해의 허황후릉 능비(陵碑)에는 가락국 수로왕비 보주태후 허씨릉(駕洛國 首露王妃 普州太后 許氏陵)이라고 새겨져 있는 것에서 허 황후가 보주란 곳과 연관이 있다고 보고 추적한 끝에 보주가 사천성 안악현(安岳縣)임을 알아낸 것이다. 그곳에서 서기 48년 전 해에 반란을 일으켜 다시 강제 이주를 당해야 했는데 그 반란을 주모한 가성(家姓)이 허씨임을 후대 기록에서 확인했다. 얼굴이 까만 인도 소녀 허황옥은 오빠와 더불어 장강(長江)을 타고 삼협(三峽)을 거쳐 황해로 나와 김해 앞바다에 이른 보트 피플이었다.

한국유전체학회에서 나온 논문에는 “약 2천년 전 가야시대 왕족의 것으로 추정되는 유골을 분석한 결과 인도 등 남방계와 비슷한 유전정보를 갖고 있었다”고 밝히면서, 우리 민족의 기원이 북방·남방계가 합쳐진 이중기원설일 가능성을 제기했다. 또 허황후의 후손으로 추정되는 김해 예안리 고분 등의 왕족 유골에서 미토콘드리아 DNA를 분석해보니 “인도인의 DNA 염기서열과 가까워 이들이 남방 쪽에서 건너왔을 가능성이 높다”고 발표했다.

이런 연구결과를 보면 김해 김씨 즉 김수로왕과 그의 비 허황옥의 후예인 김 총각이나 김유신의 DNA에는 인도의 혈통이 있었을 것이란 추정을 할수 있다.
