그는 "특히 가족들의 사생활을 보호할 수 없는 것은 치명적인 고통이지만 스스로의 선택이니 감당해야 한다"면서도 "거짓말의 수렁, 정치자금의 수렁, 사생활 검증의 수렁, 이전투구의 수렁, 이런 수렁들을 지나가야 한다는 것은 스스로 감당하기 어려운 난관과 부담"이라고 지적했다.
